Asset Integrity Analysis of WEMCO
1 Introduction
The WEMCO is the Trade-Mark derived from name of the Founding Company. The
WEMCO Depurator is used to remove oil and suspended solids from liquid. In this process
free oxygen is removed from the liquid if gas other than air is utilized. Conversely, an
oxygen deficient liquid is oxygenized by the use of air. The WEMCO Depurator
accomplishes this by introducing a large volume of finely disseminated gas bubbles into the
liquid. Under the proper conditions of chemical treatment, the contaminating oil and solid
particle become attached to gas bubbles and are carried to the surface of the liquid to the
removed as float material by the Depurator skimmers.
2 Objectives (Scope)
To develop comprehensive assessment for WEMCO Depurator T-1414 B Santan Process,
which include :
Conduct visual inspection and thickness measurement on shell, and piping system.
Calculation Remaining life Assessment

2 Data Analysis :
7.1 WEMCO
In generally, the shall plate has been in a dirty condition due to the splash of liquid from
WEMCO which take place for long time, so that it can slight external corrosion in some
section of the shell plate, but at the top side there are medium external corrosion due to
painting damage. The remaining thickness in the area have medium external corrosion at
the top side is 6.68 mm from nominal thickness 10 mm. (metal loss approximate 30%).
2.1 PROCESS PIPING
Line : From 1170-A-16” to T-1414 A/B
Line No : 1171-U-24” & 16”
P&ID No : ST-PP_4121 2/3
In generally, these line piping is in good condition. The results of thickness
measurements have no significant metal loss.
Result of thickness measurement in this line piping have been found internal
corrosion at inspection point P5. And P.6 with minimum remaining thickness 2.84
mm from nominal thickness 7.11 (metal loss >50%).
Based on RLA calculation obtained thickness requirement 2.80 mm, almost close to
the minimum remaining thickness is 2.84 mm and corrosion rate 0.175 mm/year

3 Final Recommendation :
Sandblasting and repainting the shell plate of WEMCO.
Replace line piping with line no 1174-U-16” ( from E4 to P.5) with new spool.
