At the end of the lesson the students should:
a. Recall the description of a parallelogram.
b. Measure the angles and sides of parallelograms.
c. Show team work in a given activity.

ELICIT (IDEATE) MATERIALS

A.Preliminary Activities
1.Opening Prayer
2. Greetings
3.Checking of Attendance
4. Review:
The teacher will review students about the different kinds of parallelogram.
a. Rhombus – a parallelogram with four congruent sides
b. Rectangle – a parallelogram with four right angles.
c. Square – a rectangle with four right angles and a parallelogram with four
congruent sides.

LOCALIZATION: Students will look for an object inside their bags which is
similar to the different kinds of parallelogram and will show it to the class.

 Unlocking of difficulties.
a.CONGRUENT – It is identical in form.
b.OPPOSITE – It is having a position on the other side of something.
c.SUPPLEMENTARY – It is either of two angles whose sum is 180° .
d.CONSECUTIVE – It is following continuously.
laptop, tv, PowerPoint
e.BISECT – It divides a line, an angle or a shape into two equal parts.

 HOTS QUESTION:
In what situation can you relate the word congruent, opposite,
supplementary, consecutive and bisect in real life? Explain your answer.

Lesson Proper:

Picture Analysis (MULTISTRUCTURAL)

Ok class take a look with the pictures shown on the screen. Analyze it
and afterwards were going to answer the questions that follows. If you
want to answer you can raise your hands and wait until you are called.
Every answer that you give will be recorded as your recitation for this
day.

Is that clear?

Ok very good let’s start.

DOST-SEI | Project STAR | 1

Are you done familiarizing yourselves with the picture?

Ok Great! Let’s start now answering the following questions.

Everybody can you please read question number one.

1. What can you say about the pictures? Multi-relational

Thank you class. Ok now who wants to answer question number one?

Very good! Let’s give yourselves a good job clap.

Now let’s proceed with number two.

All the girls kindly read question number two.

What do you call a figure which is four-sided? Unistructural

Thank you. Ok now who wants to answer question number two?

Very good! Let’s give yourselves a very good clap.

ENGAGE (EMPATHY)
Do you class that the pictures I’ve shown earlier are parallelograms.

But what makes a quadrilateral a parallelogram? Relational

Great! All of your answer are correct.

Give yourselves a Chris Aquino clas.

Now, Let’s find out as we go over with our discussion.

But before that, please read our objectives first.

By the end of the lesson, the students would be able to (M9GE-IIIa-2)

demonstrate understanding of key concepts of parallelograms and
triangle similarity. Specifically, the students are expected to:
a) determine the conditions that make a quadrilateral a parallelogram;
b) identify if the quadrilateral is a parallelogram using the given
condition;
c) appreciate the importance of quadrilaterals in real life.

EXPLORE (DEFINE)

Parallelogram is a quadrilateral where both pairs of opposite sides are parallel.

There are six important properties of parallelograms to know:

1. Opposite sides are parallel

2. Opposite side are congruent
3. Opposite angles are congruent
4. Consecutive angles are supplementary
5. The diagonals of a parallelogram bisect each other
6. Each diagonal bisects the parallelogram into two congruent triangles

Given parallelogram ABCD,

Complete the statements

1. BC ≅ _____
2. △BDA≅ _____
3. BE ≅ _____
4. ∠C + ∠____ =180°

 Based on the illustration, what are the conditions that guarantee

that a quadrilateral is a parallelogram? Unistructural laptop, tv, Power Point

In quadrilateral BEST,
∠B ≅ ∠S and ∠T ≅ ∠E
BEST is a parallelogram

 Based on the illustration, what are the conditions that guarantee

that a quadrilateral is a parallelogram? Unistructural

Illustration 3

In quadrilateral ABCD, AE ≅ CE and DE ≅ BE

ABCD is a parallelogram

 Based on the illustration, what are the conditions that guarantee

that a quadrilateral is a parallelogram? Unistructural

Illustration 4

In quadrilateral GEOM,

m∠G + m∠E = 180

m∠E + m∠O = 180
m∠O + m∠M = 180
m∠M + m∠G = 180
GEOM is a parallelogram

 Based on the illustration, what are the conditions that guarantee

that a quadrilateral is a parallelogram? Unistructural

In quadrilateral LINE,
∆LEI ≅ ∆NIE
LINE is a parallelogram

EXPLAIN (PROTOTYPE)

Now that you already know the conditions of a parallelogram let’s

have a group activity.

I’m going to group you into four group to do the task and after 5
minutes you’re going to explain it in front.
Manila Paper, Marker,
Illustrate the parallelogram being described. Put markings on the Scatchtape
figure to represent the property. Unistructural
1. Opposite sides are parallel and congruent.
2. Opposite angles are congruent.
3. Consecutive angles are supplementary.
4. Diagonals bisect each other.

ELABORATE

EXTEND

 Get your notebook and copy your assignment.

 Direction: Do the following: Unistructural

1. Draw and cut pot a parallelogram and call it ROSE.

2. Fold it along the diagonal OE and the along the diagonal RS. Notebook
3. Mark the point of intersection of the two diagonals. How does this
point divide the diagonals?
