HISTORY OF VOLLEYBALL

Volleyball, invented in 1895 by William G.


Morgan, is a popular sport played on
indoor and beach courts. Originally called
"mintonette," it was played with a soft ball
and net, similar to tennis. The sport
gained popularity and was renamed
"volleyball" in 1896. The International
Volleyball Federation (FIVB) was formed
in 1947. Volleyball has evolved into a fast-
paced, competitive sport, becoming an
Olympic sport in 1964. It requires
teamwork, skill, and strategy.
