Given: -12 – (- 20) = ______
Using the given expression, arrange the steps in subtracting
integers using the ordinal numbers and give the correct answer.
___ Change the sign of the subtrahend.
___Copy the minuend.

___Apply the rules of adding integers.

___Change subtraction to addition symbol.
(After arranging the steps, ask a student to retell the steps in
subtracting integers and ask their answer)

KRA 1, Objective 1, Applied knowledge of content within and

across curriculum teaching areas.
Annotation: The teacher uses the lesson about “Ordinal Numbers”
(M1NS-Ij-19.1) and sequencing in English.

KRA 1, Objective 2, Used a range of teaching strategies that

enhance learner achievement in literacy and numeracy skills.
Annotation: The teacher let the students to retell the steps in
subtracting integers by using the ordinal numbers which will enhance
their literacy and numeracy skills.

Motivation:
The students will identify the word associated with the picture.

Answer: Love

Ask them the following questions:

Did you experienced love or being loved by someone?
How do you show love to your family? Is it important to show
our love to our family? Why?
What is the antonym of love? (Assuming that the students will
answer hate)
Did you experienced being hated or you hated someone?
What did you feel?

Ask them their own opinion about a given situation.

Situation: What will you do if one of your family
members/friend got angry to you, will you still love him/her or
hate him/her? Why?
(The teacher will tell the class to Choose Love over hate)

KRA 1, Objective 1, Applied knowledge of content within and

across curriculum teaching areas.
Annotation: The teacher uses the lesson about Antonyms in English
and Love of Family in ESP.

KRA 1, Objective 3, Applied a range of teaching strategies to

develop critical and creative thinking, as well as other higher order

thinking skills.
Annotation: The teacher asks questions that will enhance their Higher-
Order-Thinking Skill by the question how and by asking their own
opinion.

B. Development What I Know

( Relate to the students The Love-Hate Analogy to explain rules in
integers. )
 Start off by asking the following:
- Is love a positive or negative thing?
- Is hate a positive or negative thing?
(This assumes that based on the students’ experience of love
and hate, they will be able to identify that love is a positive
thing and hate is a negative thing.)
Therefore Love = positive (+) and Hate = negative (-)

When multiplying integers, you can think of it as Love-Hate Analogy.

 Proceed to ask the following questions:

- If you love to love, do you love or do you hate?
- If you hate to hate, do you love or do you hate?
- If you love to hate, do you love or do you hate?
- If you hate to love, do you love or do you hate?

The students should be able to identify the rules in multiplying

integers by using the connection of the love-hate analogy that:
- If you love to love, you LOVE.
- ( positive x positive = positive)
- If you hate to hate, you LOVE.
- ( negative x negative = positive)
- If you love to hate, you HATE.
- ( positive x negative = negative)
- If you hate to love, you HATE.
- ( negative x positive = negative)
KRA 1, Objective 3, Applied a range of teaching strategies to
develop critical and creative thinking, as well as other higher order
thinking skills.
Annotation: The teacher asks questions that will enhance their Higher-
Order-Thinking Skill by connecting the analogy to the rules of
multiplying integers.

What is it
Present the rules in multiplying integers by showing examples.
Examples:
1. +4 x +3 = +12
2. -6 x -5 = +30
3. +7 x -4 = -28
4. -3 x +12 = -36

(Cut-outs with an integer on one side will be presented on the

board. The teacher will show a given expression/problem and a
learner will find the answer on the cut-outs and flip it to reveal a
part of the mystery picture. The activity will end when all the
cut-outs are flipped.)

Integers on one side of the picture

+30 +60 -80 Given :
-13 x -4
-600 +70 +100 +8 x – 10
-5 x -12

-9 x +5
-6 x +7
Mystery Picture Problem:
-The carabao milk store in
Santiago stores 25 liters of
milk a day. How many liters
will they store for 4 days?
(Identify your answer as an
integer)
-Lena has a debt of Php300. If it
increased 2 times, how
much is her debt? (Identify
your answer as an integer)
-33 Barangays of General Trias
City competed the
Valenciana Festival Cooking
Contest last 2023. If each
barangay cooked 10 kilos of
valenciana, how many kilos
of valenciana did they cook
in all? (Identify your answer
as an integer)

After revealing the mystery picture, the teacher will ask:

What is our mystery picture?
Do you know the event happened that day? In what city it is
celebrated? And when?
What products are mentioned that are available in the locality of
General Trias? Do you love or hate the taste?
If you were to sell one of our local products, how would you promote
it?
KRA 1, Objective 1, Applied knowledge of content within and
across curriculum teaching areas.
Annotation: The teacher incorporated the lesson in EPP about
selling/promoting products.

KRA 3, Objective 7, Established a learner-centered culture by

using teaching strategies that respond to their linguistic, cultural,
socio-economic, and religious backgrounds.
Annotation: The teacher used a picture and event that happened to their
community.

KRA 3, Objective 8, Adapted and used culturally appropriate

teaching strategies to address the needs of learners from
indigenous groups.
Annotation: The teacher used a scenario about to their community and
local products.
