Ask: What is this?
What does it taste like?
Is this healthy food?
 Ana has a whole orange fruit; she wants to give half to her
friend Jenny. If you were Ana, how would you divide the
orange fruit?
Let the pupils visualize how 1 whole of orange fruit will be divided
into halves.
B. Presentation Today, we will visualize and identify ½ of a whole.

C. Presenting example  Show to the class a 1 whole bread dividing into halves.
Ask the pupils the following questions:
1. What is this?
- Bread
2. What is the shape of the bread before it is cut and after?
- Before it is cut the shape of bread is circle.
- After cutting the shape of each part is semi-circle.
3. What did you observe?
- We observed that the bread is divided into two equal
parts.
 Give more examples.
D. Discussing new concepts  Explain to the pupils that when a whole is divided into two
and practicing new skills parts of equal size, we call each part one-half, Write One-
#1 half on the board, the word and the symbol. Write ½ on
each part.

 Individual task:
