MARCH 2023
CHAPTER I
The following chapter will give readers the overview of the topic at
hand. It will also have a discussion regarding the background information
of the research problem, which will then be answered in the end-part of
this paper. This chapter also possesses the objectives of the researchers,
the ones who will benefit, and the ranges and restrictions of the study.
Rationale
• Users can follow the other user’s account, just by clicking the follow
button on the person’s profile.
• Users can like other user’s posts, by clicking the heart icon at the
bottom part of the tweet.
These are just some of the unique features of Twitter that encourage
users to interact with one another. These features give students an open
space to share or unleash stress-giving thoughts, emotions, and
experiences. All these contribute to why many users, specifically students,
use Twitter as a coping mechanism.
Specific Problems:
1.1. Age
1.2. Gender
2. What are the strategies that students use to cope up with various
stressors?
3. What are the features of Twitter that make it suitable for relieving
stress?
EXPECTED OUTCOMES:
To find out the different ways on how Senior High School students
effectively use Twitter as a coping mechanism.
To compare the before and after state of people who use Twitter as a
coping mechanism as they post tweets.
SIGNIFICANCE OF THE STUDY:
Students
Parents
Twitter users
Twitter users can have a valid reason to access the social media
platform more often if this study can show that it can be an effective
coping mechanism and can be beneficial for students.

I. Coping Mechanism
Research Design
The researchers will use purposive sampling for the study. The
chosen form of sampling technique seeks to identify the respondents who
meet the criteria necessary for the study's objective.
The Respondents
Research Instrument
Research Locale
The study was conducted at Las Piñas City National Science High
School (LPCNSHS), a specialized public science high school situated in the
City of Las Piñas. It specifically targeted the Senior High School students
from School Year 2022-2023.
Data Gathering
Data Analysis
The data presented in this chapter provides valuable insights into the
respondents' characteristics, their frequency of Twitter usage, their
perception of Twitter as a coping mechanism, and the impact of Twitter
on their lives. This chapter’s main purpose is to discuss the key findings
and their implications.

Based on the table, our female respondents are 60%, while our male
respondents are 40%. Therefore, the majority of our respondents are
female.

Based on Table 5, the majority of the responses, first in rank, had an
equal distribution of answers on scales 4 and 5 (13 responses, or 43.3%).
Next in rank is scale 3, garnering 3 responses or 10% of the sample size.
For rank 3, it is scale 1, with only 1 response, or 3.3% of the sample size.
Ranked last is scale 2, which has no responses, making it 0% of the
sample size.

Table 12
What is the impact of using Twitter in your life?
Total 47 100%
The data presented in the table illustrates the varied impact of
Twitter on users' lives. The most dominant category observed is
"Emotional Expression," representing 27.66% of the responses, indicating
that Twitter provides a platform for users to openly express their
emotions. Furthermore, Twitter is acknowledged as a source of "Relieving
Stress and Boredom," accounting for 19.15% of the responses. Another
notable aspect is the role of Twitter in "Information Access," valued by
14.89% of the respondents for staying informed about current issues and
events. The data also highlights Twitter's significance in facilitating
"Building Meaningful Connections" (12.77%) while also acknowledging the
potential for "Negative Impact" (10.64%) on users. Finally, the smallest
proportion of respondents (4.26%) report minimal or no impact from their
Twitter usage.
CHAPTER V
Conclusion
The data presented in this chapter provides valuable insights into the
frequency of Twitter usage of the respondents, their perception of Twitter
as a coping mechanism, and the impact of Twitter on their lives. When it
comes to the frequency of usage, Twitter is found to be a popular
platform among the respondents, with a significant proportion reporting
frequent usage, indicating its importance in their lives. As a coping
mechanism tool, Twitter is identified as one of the top coping strategies
for a majority of respondents, particularly following stressful events. It
serves as a means of seeking solace, emotional support, and stress relief.
It is also found that the vast majority of respondents believe that Twitter
helps them cope with stress effectively, highlighting its perceived benefits
as a tool for managing stressors and providing emotional relief. The
respondents reported diverse reasons for using Twitter, including
academic purposes, personal concerns, emotional expression, and
information sharing. Twitter has a positive impact on users' lives by
facilitating emotional expression, relieving stress and boredom, and
providing access to information. While the majority of respondents
reported positive experiences with Twitter, a minority acknowledged
negative impacts associated with its usage. Further exploration of these
negative effects would be valuable to understand potential risks or
drawbacks.
