Constitution and By-Laws of the Elementary Science Club

Preamble:
We, the members of the Elementary Science Club, to promote curiosity,
critical thinking, and exploration in the field of science, do hereby
establish this Constitution and By-Laws.

Article I: Name and Purpose

Section 1: Name
The official name of this organization shall be the Elementary Science
Club (ESC).

Section 2: Purpose
The purpose of the ESC is to provide a platform for elementary school
students to develop a love for science, foster scientific inquiry, and
engage in hands-on activities and experiments.

Article II: Membership

Section 1: Eligibility
Membership in the ESC is open to all students enrolled in elementary
school.

Section 2: Rights and Responsibilities
a) All members have the right to participate in meetings, events, and
activities organized by the ESC.
b) Members are expected to behave respectfully towards one another,
show enthusiasm for science, and follow safety guidelines during
experiments and activities.
c) Members are encouraged to actively contribute ideas and suggestions
for club activities.

Section 3: Removal from Membership

a) A member may be removed from the ESC if their behavior is
consistently disruptive or inappropriate, as determined by the club
advisor and majority vote of the club officers.
b) Prior to removal, the member will be given a fair warning and an
opportunity to correct their behavior.

Article III: Club Officers

Section 1: Positions
a) The club shall have the following officer positions:
i) President - responsible for leading meetings and coordinating
club activities
ii) Vice President - assists the President and fulfills their
duties in their absence
iii) Secretary - responsible for keeping records and minutes of
club meetings
iv) Treasurer - manages club funds and financial transactions

v) Event Coordinator - plans and organizes club events and field
trips

Section 2: Election and Term

a) Elections for club officers shall be held annually, at a designated
club meeting.
b) Any member of the ESC is eligible to run for a club officer
position.
c) Officers shall serve for one academic year, beginning at the end of
the election meeting.

Section 3: Removal from Office

a) An officer may be removed from their position if they fail to
fulfill their duties, as determined by a two-thirds majority vote of
the club members.
b) Prior to removal, the officer will be given a fair warning and an
opportunity to improve.

Article IV: Meetings

Section 1: Frequency
The ESC shall meet at least once every month during the academic year,
unless otherwise agreed upon by the club officers and members.

Section 2: Quorum
A quorum consisting of at least 50% plus one of the club members must
be present to conduct official business during club meetings.

Section 3: Agenda
a) The President, in consultation with the officers, shall develop an
agenda for each club meeting.
b) Any club member may suggest items to be included in the agenda.

Article V: Amendments

Section 1: Proposal
a) Any member of the ESC may propose an amendment to the Constitution
and By-Laws.
b) The proposed amendment must be submitted to the club advisor in
writing.

Section 2: Approval
a) Proposed amendments shall be considered and voted upon during a
club meeting.
b) Amendments require a two-thirds majority vote of the club members
present to be adopted.

Section 3: Ratification
Adopted amendments to the Constitution and By-Laws shall become
effective immediately upon ratification.

This Constitution and By-Laws of the Elementary Science Club were

ratified on (date) and replace any previous versions. Amendments to
this document shall be recorded and maintained by the Secretary.
