Dear Parents and Students,

UNIFORM
A reminder that the students will change into their full winter uniform on the 01st of June 2023.
Please ensure that your children have the correct winter uniform.

SPORTS AND CULTURAL RESULTS

Debating
The Junior Debate team competed in the regionals last weekend. They won rounds one and two. The
third round was a closed round and therefore the results are as yet unknown.
Xi Yuan You was awarded the best speaker in round one.
Congratulations to the team members: Ethan Cato, Kayla Chavanga, Katlego Modikoane,
Ryan Okonkwo and Xi Yuan You.
Other
Congratulations to Kayla Wright who finished in second place in the Aerial division - silk of the
Arnold sports festival Africa 2023. Kayla has qualified to compete in the Provincials later this year.
Annie Abrantes Rente competed in the OGKK (Okinawa Goju-Ryu Karatedo Kyokai) Kata
championships on the 27th of May 2023. Annie received a silver medal for her individual Kata and a
bronze medal for her paired Kata. Well done, Annie!
Upcoming
Johannesburg Festival of the Arts (speech and drama).
Good luck to our Individual and Group Public Speakers, who will be participating at Jeppe Boys
this coming Saturday, 03rd of June 2023.

CAPE TOWN TOUR

August 2023
All students in Grades 8-10 are invited to go on the Cape Town tour in the first week of August
this year. The tour will showcase some of the beauty of our country and allow our students to
experience aspects of both the Geography and Biology curricula. It will also provide an
opportunity for them to make up for some of the more social aspects they missed due to the
ravages of the pandemic. Please see Mrs Bennett for details … spaces are filling up fast.
OPEN DAY
Our next Open day will take place on the 10th of June 2023, between 10H00 and 13H00. Please
help us spread the word. If you follow us on Facebook or Instagram, please share our posts.

DATE CHANGE!
We have decided to have our last exam on Friday the 4th of August 2023, and close the school
for the holidays that day, instead of students finishing on Tuesday the 08th Of August 2023.
This will allow people to take advantage of the public holiday on Wednesday 9th August 2023.
