Geography Field Trip - Secondary

Dear parents, guardians and carers,

As we delve into the academic year, we are excited to inform you about an upcoming trip that is a compulsory course
requirement for their Geography IGCSE and will make up part of their Paper 1 (Section B) exam. Your child has been
invited to go on the field trip to Al Hamriya Beach, Hamriya West Sharjah. Students will have the chance to observe
and analyze the dynamic interactions between land and sea, gaining first-hand experience of the geographical
features and processes discussed in class.

What is the aim of this field trip?

The field trip is an integral part of the IGCSE Geography curriculum, specifically designed to complement the
requirements of Paper 1 (Section B) with the focus on “Investigation of Coastal Processes through Primary and
Secondary Fieldwork Evidence”. This excursion will provide students with a unique opportunity to engage in both
primary and secondary fieldwork, cultivating essential skills and knowledge for their examinations. The primary focus
of our fieldwork will be the investigation of coastal processes.

What is the price per student?

The trip is free of cost, however, students will be required to pay the transportation cost of 35 AED per student.

When is the field trip, and at what time?

This trip is on Tuesday, 20th February 2024. We will leave from the school at 7:45am and return by 2:00pm

*Please note that the departure and arrival for the students is from the school.

Timing Event

7.30am Students arrive at school as normal and make their way to their form
rooms for registration.

7.40am Students gather in the GF canteen and bus leaves ASCS

9:00am Arrival at Al Hamriya Beach, Hamriyah West Sharjah

9.15am - 12.00pm Students collect primary data (qualitative and quantitative)

 12:30pm Departure from Hamriyah Beach and return to school

2:00pm Arrive back at ASCS

If you would like your child to attend please complete the Google consent form GEO Y 10 Field Trip registration .
You would also need to sign the parent consent form and email it back by Friday, 8th February 2024. We encourage
you to fill up the form as soon as possible to ensure your child’s attendance.
