Introduction

Cancer is a condition in which some cells in the body grow out of control and spread to other
parts of the body. Cancer can begin practically anywhere in the trillions of cells that make up the human
body. Human cells normally expand and multiply (via a process known as cell division) to generate new
cells as needed by the body. Cells die as they become old or injured, and new cells replace them.

As a team of 11 members for the 2nd group of Curriculum management course, after many suggestions
from each of us we decided to conduct an event on Cancer Awareness talk where a cancer survivor talks
on how she/he have survived or surviving it. To make it more interesting and inspiring we did find our
cancer survivor to speak up about the journey of cancer. It is better to listen from a person who has
more experience and knowledge about it.

Moreover, the objective of this event is to create awareness among the citizens and also to give
knowledge on cancer. It is also to teach the types of cancers. As there is very fewer physical talks during
this pandemic time, we thought it would be the best to conduct online and to invite outsiders to listen
on the talk.

In a nutshell, there were many steps to be taken to conduct a virtual event. With so much of team
work and help the event did take part as planned.

2.0 Planning Stage


Our team members began the planning stage of the event by conducting in Google meet. During
the first meeting, we were introducing ourselves to each other. Starting stage our group members some
of choose is fundraising topic. Later, they are not agreed. Because, we don’t have time to do and we
don’t know how to improve the fundraising. That’s why we rejected that topic. And Finally, our team
members have taken the topic is “Cancer Won't Win, But You Can “. This topic was well-accepted by
every member in our team (cancer won’t win, but you can) and also whereby this decision was approved
by our lecturer Miss Nurul Hafeeza Juma’ah. We also determined the position in our team and assigned
them accordingly to every member upon the members’ agreements. After that, we tried to share our
mindsets or ideas on the type of event that we can organize. Once our group decision was done, then

we chose lastly, Our Organizing Chairperson is Kawsallia. She is the in charge of our group and she gave
instruction about the topic and organizing chairperson must submit the final report to our lecturer.
Muhammad Abdul Kadar Musharraf is the Vice Organizing Chairperson in our group. He role is
Emergency time, if organizing chairperson is unable to join the meeting, he will host on the meeting to
discuss about the event into team members and also he will be noted we contributed in group work or
not and he will be updated to Organizing Chairperson. Our secretary is Nur Athirah. She will be in charge
of creating the poster for our event. For Treasurer as a Vinothini. She is the responsible for decided the
event budget. Shahbaz Ibne Hassan is the project manager and he was prepared the script for our event.
Priwin Sri is the Environment Manager and he was created and managing the participants registration.
And next is Our Finance Analyst is Sivaganesh. Her role is collected money from group members and
then collect every receipt. Prishalani Arvina is the Publicity Manager. She is in charge of getting feedback
from participants. Our Public Relations manager are Muhammad Adrin Tan and Praakash are in charge
of promote event through in social media and communicating with participants and explain the event
detailed. And Lastly Irfan Daniel as an Editor. Her role is making the live event and to be edit shortest
video.

3.0 Implementation stage


3.1 Meeting
Firstly, we had to discuss where we going to have the meeting, we decided to have via google
meet. A telegram group was created for us to discuss and share information for the event. We used our
telegram group for everyone to give ideas and to make sure all the team member participates actively.
We had to do it virtually due to covid-19 pandemic as we can’t do an event which can gather people as
the SOP. Moving ahead, the primary objective of the meeting is ensuring that each team member has
their own role and responsibility. As we have assigned team members role, the events should go
smoothly and without issues. The problems that we faced in doing this event was quickly resolved. We
have discussed many things such as, where to do the event, how to invite participants, how to do the
lucky draw, who to invite as the chief guest, selecting the date for the event and many more. We also
wanted the event to benefit participant and gain knowledge. Next, as this meeting should be done
virtually, we had many obstacles to overcome. As the team members was very active, we were able to
solve the problems smoothly. All the important information was discussed during the meeting and

telegram if some information is left during the meeting. All the team members able to carry out their
duties effectively since they were aware of their responsibilities.

3.2 Venue Selecting


At this point, we had to discuss about which platform we going to have the event as we can’t set
an actual event due to Movement Control Order (MCO). Some of our team members suggested zoom,
skype, Instagram for us to do the virtual event but those platforms had their disadvantages we couldn’t
use those platforms. After doing some research we finalize the platform we going to use during the
event. We had conducted the event with google meet platform. The reason we chose google meet was
for its advantages. For example, unlimited number of meetings for free, we were able to do the many
meetings for free. Secondly live captioning during the event and most importantly compatibility across
devise. This makes sure that our participants can join our event in any device that has internet
connection.

3.3 NGO Association


We need a sponsor to manage the prizes during our event. we also decided to give some prizes
to the winners. Then, participant will be attracting and more participants will join our event. Sponsor is a
responsible for a person for helping to organization and support an event a certain amount of money.
After that we discussing with team members how we are going to get sponsor in our event. That time
our environment manager said to us, Priwin cousin told him. I will give the sponsor for your event and
Environment manager has elaborated about our event to sponsor. The sponsor company name is
beyond academic training sdn bhd. And finally, the company sponsor was given for us RM 200 at our
event.

3.4 Financial
In this event, we have a treasurer to organize our finances. Committee members are responsible
for the finances of this event. He manages all the finances of the event, including awards, sponsorships,
printing, etc. We need to collect the amount and prizes. The amount we want to raise is RM100 as a
prize, so each of us will sponsor RM15. A few days later, we received a message from Ms. Nurul Hafiz Bt
Juma'ah in the telegram group. She told us that our proposal has not been completed and it is difficult

to pass without sponsorship, so we need to find sponsors as soon as possible. In fact, our team has some
obstacles and they want to give us a gift at the door, such as a bouquet of flowers for a speaker worth
150 ringgit. Delivery door gift t. Then the team had a discussion with Ms. Nurul Hafiz Bt Juma'ah in the
online course, and the young lady presented the idea of gift voucher to the public. We choose money
because we can simply save gift certificates because we cannot give away cash. The total amount of
sponsorship and team is 370 Malaysian ringgits. We agreed to 200 Malaysian prizes. The first place is
equivalent to 50 Malaysian vouchers, the second place-50 Malaysian ringgit gift certificates, the third
place and the fifth place- 20 MYR gift voucher per person.

3.5 Event Promotion


Due to the Covid19 pandemic, our team decided to use social media as a platform to
disseminate information about the event and promote the event via the Internet. We use our social
media accounts to promote our (cancer won’t win, but you can) our main activity in your Google
account, which was created one month before the activity, by our video editor Irfan Daniel manage. If
you follow the main event account, interested fans will receive more information and instructions about
the event. A digital poster created with our designer Nur Atira Binti Mohamad Roslan. The poster
indicates the name of the event, date, and cooperation projects, and there are 6 public relations contact
numbers to answer any questions. We produced a digital poster for these events. Awards. This is a gift
certificate that will attract you to participate in our event. We mentioned the prices from the 1st to the
6th place, so be sure to participate in our event. In addition, our team has decided to continue to
promote the event through Google Meet, we selected a coordinator to organize it, and a video editor to
register. From there, they will communicate and answer any questions the audience may have. You have
1 hour and 50 minutes to report the event. ...The designer prepared a poster on the Google link to
attract subscribers to participate in the live broadcast. By then, we will have 34 viewers. In the
WhatsApp group on the offline platform, we distribute activities to family members and close friends so
that this person can share activities with others.

3.6 Participants
We have been told that the 100 participations would be best to represent our team’s work. A
week after we did the proposal presentation about our event, Miss Hafeeza told us that we would have
to wait until the management approves our event. After Miss Hafeeza approved our event and the event

date, she suggested us to collaborate with National Cancer Society Malaysia (NCSM), but due to some
internal issues NCSM didn’t respond to our proposal. There were 45 students (Segi Students/ Non Segi
Students) that joined us. Other than that, we also gained participation from our friends and family by
sending them registration form link. Overall, we got 83 participants from the registration statistics.
There was a Q&A session with our Chief Guest where most of the participants joined and asked
questions to our Chief Guest. We received an approximate of 25 questions from the participants, each
participant were allowed to ask more than one question. But almost every participated in the Q&A
asked one question. There was a lucky draw session where there would was supposed to be five lucky
winners. Finally, the first place was won by Ramyahdevi Chinayah (Non-Segi Student), second winner
was Tun Thut Thiri Aung from Segi, third winner was Hasni Hamid who is the mother of our host. The
fourth prise was won by Muhammad Farid Tan Bin who is the father of our host. The last prize was won
by Thanushananthini Jayaraman. The first & second prize was a RM 50 voucher, the third prize was a RM
30 voucher. The fourth & the fifth prize was a RM 20 voucher.

3.7 Actual Event


The event started after our lecturer, Miss Hafeeza, held a zoom meeting for our class. We
needed to make a proposal presentation about our “Cancer Won’t Win but We Will” event. In the
presentation, the slides contained the agenda, our objective for this event, about the event, our team
members, description, budget, itinerary, poster and event registration form. After approximately 3
virtual meeting with our lecturer, our event got approved. We collaborated with Beyond Academic
Training Sdn Bhd as our sponsor who helped our team to raise the fund for the lucky draw prizes. We
also collaborated with our chief guest who is a social media influencer. We were asked to make some
changes to our slides. Along with it, we were also suggested to have a collaboration with the National
Cancer Society Malaysia (NCSM). Keeping that in mind, we sent them proposal of our event to
collaborate, but due to some internal issues and within a short notice, they did not respond to our
proposal request. The next thing that we did was prepare a poster of our event with our event name, QR
code for event register form link, date and time, exciting prizes giveaways to attract the audience,
number and email address are also inserted for audience to contact our teammate for any query. Next,
we started the steps to run this event by promoting our posters through social media to all of the
teammates’ family and friends. We received a total of 83 registrations from Segi and non-Segi Students.
In the form, we ask participants to fill in details about the participants such as name, phone number,

email and others. In between the time of our first attempt of event, our teammates had to join our
private meeting approximately 7 times. The first event date postponed due to the delay of our
management’s approval. After getting approval from the management, we had to postpone it to the
next week. After all the hard work, sending all the invitation of the event link through email of the
participants that they used to register. Our first event started and was going well, most of the
participants also joined, our sponsor also joined, but due to an emergency our Chief Guest could not
join. We waited thirty minutes for her to join our meeting, but when she confirmed that she could not
join our event. We had to apologize to all of the participants and our sponsor. The positivity amongst all
of the participants and the sponsor showed, really gave our teammates a hope of light as most of them
promised that they would join our event again, and that they can’t wait to meet our Chief Guest and
listen her survival story as it is a miracle to everyone. After we postponed the first meeting we had to
move to the following week, where all of the participants received an apology letter to join again, and
that they will receive another email of the event meeting link. The second meeting was postponed to
the following week after confirming it with our Chief Guest with her time availability. And finally, the
event happened on 8/1/2021. The host for the live session was Muhammad Adrin Tan (Publicity
Manager) who is also our event recorder and Shahbaz Ibne Hassan (Project Manager). In the event we
introduced our topic to the audience and made sure everyone understood our event which was totally
based on our Chief Guest’s survival story. Later on we introduced our Lecturer/ Supervisor Ms Hafeeza,
and explained her full contribution to our event and how she improvised and supervised our teammates
in order to get the event done without any issues. We also talked about the duration for our event,
shared some tips and let everyone know about the early symptoms of Cancer and how to prevent it, we
also shared our objective on the event with the type of cancers all around the globe. We also created a
Q&A session for participants to ask questions to the Chief Guest about Cancer and how to be safe from
it. The answers of our Chief Guest had given instructions and guidelines to the audience on how to
survive from Cancer. She shared her story on the survival of cancer. She answered approximately 25
questions briefly from the participants. The questions emotionally touched her wellbeing but she did not
hesitate to answer any of that. She shared about her family on how she was emotionally strengthened
by her family, partner and her friends, and how she strengthened them emotionally. She also did not
hesitate to share how she coped up financially every month. After the Q&A session, it showed that her
story touched everyone’s heart as they all showed sympathy and gave her good piece of advice. Later
on, we did a lucky draw session for all the participants registered. One person could register once, so
their name was on the list of the spinner wheel to see the fortunate winners. Finally, the first place was

third winner was Hasni Hamid. The fourth prise was won by Muhammad Farid Tan Bin. The last prize

winners via email which they could use in any store that accepts grab vouchers. After that we thanked
everyone for joining our event, we specially thanked Ms. Navi and Ms. Subhagayatri for joining our
event and contributing so much for the event and their cooperation. Meanwhile we also asked
everyone’s consent to take a group picture and asked everyone for reviews on the event, and it was the
end of the event. The entire video was recorded and viewed by the teammates and shared amongst
family and friends. Later on, it was edited by Irfan Daniel as per instruction from Ms. Hafeeza to make it
short of about 30 minutes.

3.8 Materials Purchasing


At this stage, our committee members agreed to choose a Grab Vouchers as a lucky draw gift.
Our vice organizing chairperson, Musharraf, took action quickly to identify and purchase those vouchers
from grab official website and it is an easy option to get it. Musharraf chose a RM 50 vouchers for the
first and second winner, a RM 30 voucher for the third winner and RM 20 vouchers for the fourth and
fifth winner. The total amount of prizes is RM 170.

In this event, our committee agreed to have a lucky draw and choose a winner by their luck. The
winner will get a Grab voucher accordingly by their luck which is RM 50, RM30 and RM 20. Our first lucky
draw winner is Ramyadevi and she won RM 50 voucher. Tun Thut Thiri won a second prize which is also
a RM 50 Voucher. Our third winner is Hasni Hamid and she won a RM 30 Voucher. The fourth and fifth
winners are Muhammad Farid Tan and Thanushananthini Jayaraman and they won RM 20 grab
vouchers. All prize vouchers where send to their email address accordingly.

3.9 Committee Feedback


Upon completion of the “CANCER WON’T WIN, BUT YOU CAN” event, our public manager is sent
the event feedback form to the participants. This is a part of our task which is to find out the feedback
from them and also help us to identify our strengths and weaknesses throughout the event and

encourage us to improve better experiences to implement the event in the future. As a proof, we have
to ask the participants to answer the feedback form given by our group.

First Question is, Overall, how would you rate the event? The participant was so happy and they were
rated 5/5 for the event. The second question was What did you like most about the event? The
participants were answered I genuinely liked everything about the event, it was super well done. Loved
hearing Ms. Navi speak and learned a lot from the event. The Organizing Team were so active and able
to read all the questions asked by the participants. Other than that Q and A section was able to answer
all the participants problems with a relatable way by the speaker.

The Following question was Based on your experience at this event, how likely are you to attend
future events? The all participants were answered yes, they will attend the following upcoming events.
The last question we were asked to the participants is Do you have any other suggestions or comments
to help us improve our future events? One of the participants was telling No comment as this time the
event well a lot better compared to the first time when it got cancelled. Other than that, participants
told that we Maybe can add in a little fun element in our event.

4.0 Evaluation Stage


Main Purpose
According to the World Health Organization, at least one-third of cancers are preventable. The
incidence of cancer in Malaysia is rising rapidly; therefore, it is important to improve the population’s
literacy rate and cancer knowledge. Low awareness of cancer slows the appearance of cancer symptoms
and may delay cancer diagnosis. So, we decided to hold a cancer awareness event. The theme of the
event is "The Power of Hope: Cancer cannot be loved, we can". The main goal of our anti-cancer event is
to help raise awareness of cancer and get rid of the stigma and fear that comes with it. It is important to
dispel the myths that people misbelieve, tell them about songs and systems, and the importance of
screening for early detection. It is also important to lead a healthy lifestyle and share the stories of
survivors in a positive way. Hope and trust. Let us open up the participation of women and men. The
purpose of this cancer This outreach event aims to build a "brand awareness" among the public about
cancer, its detection, treatment, and the need for continuous and reliable treatment. We hope that this
event will lead to early detection, which is important for cancer treatment and treatment and
prevention through necessary lifestyle changes.

Team works
Teamwork is the collective effort of a group to achieve a common goal in the most efficient and
effective way. This concept is embodied in a broader team structure, where a group of interdependent
people work together to achieve a common goal. The team consists of 11 people. Each member of the
group has a corresponding position and task. In the group, we discuss events that we meet from time to
time. We met to find sponsors for our event. Soon after, we found a sponsor for our event. In our group,
every member has the opportunity to contribute their ideas or suggestions. For example, discuss the
sponsors and speakers of the event, as well as the prize selection of the lottery, and how the prizes
should be sent to the winners. Even if some members of the group do not understand, ask our Telegram
group, there will be other members to help you. If we have any questions about this event, we will
comment on our meeting.

6.0 Conclusion
Overall, organizing this awareness talk event have been a very great experience for us.
This event gave a positive impact to others that Cancer is not as scary as the media portrayed it
to be. The assumption that cancer is deadly and there is no cure or ways to prevent it from
getting worse. This event gave us the opportunity to show that Cancer is just a part of Our life
and that we can still hope for the best. We would also like to thank our lecturers for giving us
this great unforgettable opportunity and also supporting us from the beginning and the end.
Our lecturer also gives us a lot of supports and tips on how to make our Event go smoothly.
We would also like to take this opportunity to thank and appreciate the sponsors from
Beyond Academic Training Sdn. Bhd. For also giving us this opportunity and have been our
backbone for us to make this event successfully. We would also like to thank our family
members and our friends who have helped contribute to this Event and making it possible too.
In addition, this event will not be going as smoothly as it did without the teamwork that the
group have throughout the whole event period. We also learn that everyone should give their
all throughout the event period so that it can go as smoothly and make it so that every one will
stay in a positive mindset. Also, we would like to thank each of our team member for being
such an amazing sport and gave their all to make this event possible while making sure that we
all can have a fun time handling this event.

Although there were some problems that we weren’t expecting during the event, we
were still able to postponed the event until another date and tried to make it better for our
participants. This wouldn’t have been possible if it weren’t for our teamwork among the team
members, and also our participants for giving us a second chance to prove ourselves and
rejoining our event. We would also like to thanks each team members for executing their
individual task professionally and that they do their job well following their positions. The
positions that our team have is Organizing Chairperson, Vice Organizing Chairperson, Secretary,

Treasurer, Project Manager, Environment Manager, Finance Analyst, Publicity Manager, Public
Relation Manager I, Public Relation Manager II, and finally our Video Editor.

Finally, we hope that there is more opportunity for us to hold another project or event
like this in the future. We hope that we can organize better than what we did, and making sure
that the event went properly so that it will be the best for our participants.

the event to give out her speech on breast cancer/general cancer
awareness for the guests.

4.3 10:35 a.m. Speaker updated Kawsallia that she couldn’t


attend because she had an emergency and had to rush to the ER.

4.4 10:40 a.m. Hosts told our guests we had to cancel our
meeting due to our Speaker couldn’t attend last minute and it will Adrin Tan,
be rescheduled in the future which is on 1st August 2021 Shahbaz &
