skills # 2 Example 1: 0.0052 ÷ 0.01 = N
(Guided Practice)
Consider the following steps below:
Step 1. Multiply the divisor by 100 to make it a whole number.

0.01 x 100 = 1

Step 2. Multiply also the dividend by 100 because you

multiplied your divisor by 100.

0.0052 x 100 = 0.52

Step 3. Divide as in whole number.

Any number divided by 1 is the number itself. 0.52 ÷ 1 = 0.52

Hence, the quotient of 0.0052 divided by 0.01 is 0.52.

Example 2: 6.3 ÷ 0.001 = N

Consider the following steps below:

Step 1. Multiply the divisor by 1000 to make it a whole number.

0.01 x 1000 = 1

Step 2. Multiply also the dividend by 1000 because you

multiplied your divisor by 1000.

6.3 x 1000 = 6300

Step 3. Divide as in whole number.

Any number divided by 1 is the number itself. 6300 ÷ 1= 6300
Hence, the quotient of expression 6.3 divided by 0.001 is 6300.

Use your ‘show me boards’ solve for the quotient.

skills # 1
(Analysis)
To divide decimals by 10, Consider the following steps

- Since there is only one zero in the divisor which is 10, move the
decimal point of the dividend one place to the left. The new
decimal number formed is the quotient.
- Hence, 350.99 ÷ 10 = 35.099
- So, Each newspaper costs 35.099 pesos

concepts and Dividing decimals by 100
practicing new 3.75 ÷ 100
skills # 2
(Guided Practice) - Since there are two zeros in the divisor which is 100, move the
decimal point of the dividend two places to the left. In this case,
if you move two places to the left, there is no more digit before
3 so affix zero to the left on the empty place. The new decimal
number formed is the quotient.
0 3. 75 ÷ 100 = 0.0375
Hence, 3.75 ÷ 100 = 0.0375.
Dividing decimals by 1 000
3.75 ÷ 1 000
- Since there are three zeros in the divisor which is 1 000,
move the decimal point of the dividend three places to the left.
In this case, if you move three places to the left, there is no
more digit before 3 so affix zeros to the left on the empty
places. The new decimal number formed is the quotient.
0 0 3. 75 ÷ 100 = 0.0375
Hence, 3.75 ÷ 1000 = 0.00375.

Use your ‘show me boards’ solve for the quotient.
