A LOCAL HEALTH BOARD RESOLUTION ADOPTING THE RECOMMENDATION TO PLACE TAGUM


CITY UNDER THE STATE OF CALAMITY DUE TO DENGUE OUTBREAK

WHEREAS, during the Local Health Board Meeting conducted last October 25, ,2023 at the
Tagum City 4th floor Audio Visual Room the resolution requesting adopting the recommendation to place
Tagum City under the state of calamity due to dengue outbreak was put in motion.

WHEREAS, Republic Act 11332 is an act providing policies and prescribing procedures on
surveillance and response to notifiable diseases, epidemics, and health events of public health concern,
and appropriating funds therefor, repealing for the purpose act no. 3573, otherwise known as the on
reporting of communicable diseases

WHEREAS, Section 7 of the said act, Declaration, of Epidemic or Public Health Emergency states
that Provincial, city or municipal health offices may only declare a disease outbreak within their
respective localities provided the declaration. is supported by, sufficient scientific evidence based on
disease surveillance data, epidemiologic Investigation, environmental investigation, and laboratory
investigation.

WHEREAS, the City Epidemiolocal Surveillance Unit as represented by Dr. Muhammad Hisham
Mackno reported that As of September 2023, a total of one hundred eighty-seven cases of dengue fever
were reported. Out of 23 barangays, thirteen (57%) barangays had already reported clustering cases of
dengue in their respective area from January to September 2023. There were eight (0.9%) reported
death from January to September 2023.

WHEREAS, the data provided by the City Epidemiological and Surveillance Unit shows that most
affected among the age groups belongs to 1-10 years old and males were slightly affected with ninety-
eight (51%) than females.

WHEREAS, the environmental survey also showed that there were still some houses that
stagnant water was seen such as in bottles, used tires. Health education and community participation
will still be had a big impact to control the spread of dengue virus. As the main solution to stop dengue
virus is still the elimination of vector and the mosquitoes that carry the virus.

WHEREAS, the Environmental Sanitation Response Plan provided the recommendation including
the procurement of necessary logistics , health education campaigns and series of activities until March
2024 to combat the Dengue outbreak.

NOW THEREFORE, during the 5th Regular Meeting of the Local Health Board through the
motion of Dr. Arnel Florendo and seconded by Ian Patrick Vidad, the Board approved LHB Resolution
No. 11, Series of 2023, A LOCAL HEALTH BOARD RESOLUTION ADOPTING THE RECOMMENDATION TO
PLACE TAGUM CITY UNDER THE STATE OF CALAMITY DUE TO DENGUE OUTBREAK
