Topic of the Lesson: Unit 3 On Broadway!
Song: On Broadway

OBJECTIVES:

1. PEDAGOGICAL

- extending and revising the previously learned vocabulary through a song


- making a summary of the material from unit 3

2. EDUCATIONAL

a) language elements:

- vocabulary –neon lights, dime, quit and revising the previously learned
vocabulary
- pronunciation – practising pronunciation of the new words and the old ones
- grammar – /

b) language functions:

- to describe one’s feelings and emotions when in love

c) language skills:

- listening (to the tape, the teacher, the other students)


- reading (the song, the exercises from the book)
- speaking (students talk about the topic of the song and answer the questions)
- writing (the new words on the board and the exercises in the book)

TEACHING MATERIALS: cassette, cassette recorder, book, chalk, colour chalks,


blackboard

METHODS: eclectic approach (i.e. a combination of the other approaches)

LESSON DEVELOPMENT

1. INTRODUCTORY PART

1.1 Checking the homework assignment.

2. MAIN PART

2.1 I play the tape for ex.N˚1. Students listen to the song and put the words in the
correct order. I play it again. Then they read the song.

2.2 Doing ex.N˚2 and 3. Answering the questions. Students discuss the theme of the
song.

2.3 I play the tape for students to sing the song.

2.4 They fill in the progress review chart to see how much they have learned the
material from unit 3.

3. CONCLUDING PART

3.1 Making a brief summary of the material from unit 3 and putting an accent on the
most important points.

3.2 Setting a homework assignment from the activity book.
