SEMI – DETAILED LESSON PLAN

QUARTER 3 FEBRUARY 26 - 29, 2024
GRADE 8 (FAITH, HOPE, LOVE) MATH 8 – WEEK 7 – DAY 1 to 4

I. OBJECTIVES
a. Content Standard
The learners demonstrate understanding of key concepts of factors of polynomials, rational algebraic
expressions and inequalities in two variables, systems of linear equations and inequalities in two variables
and linear functions.
b. Performance Standard
The learners are able to formulate real-life problems involving factors of polynomials, rational algebraic
expressions, linear equations and inequalities in two variables, system of linear equations and inequalities in
two variables and linear functions, and solve these problems accurately using a variety of strategies.
c. Competencies
(M8AL-IIb-1): The learners solve a system of linear inequalities in two variables.
(M8AL-IIb-2): The learners solve problems involving systems of linear inequalities in two variables.
d. Values Integration: Excellence at the Service of Others
The learners are expected to be competent in dealing with real - world problems involving systems of linear
inequalities in two variables. (Elaborate)
e. Learning Outcomes
At the end of the lesson, the learners should be able to:
1. follow the steps in graphing system of linear inequalities in two variables;
2. adopt the importance of systems of linear inequalities in two variables in solving word problems; and
3. solve problems involving systems of linear inequalities in two variables.
II. CONTENT

IV. PROCEDURES Teacher’s Notes
a. Engage
Activity 1: “Let’s Activate” Let the students recall how to translate linear equations in
two variables into its standard form and vice versa.

Prompt Question:
1. How did you find the activity?
2. How did you translate either the linear inequalities
into verbal phrases or vice versa?

Presentation of the Topic and Learning The students can now conclude that the topic is about
Outcomes Solving Problems Involving Systems of Linear Inequalities
in Two Variables. Let the students be guided with the
learning outcomes:
LEARNING OUTCOMES
a. follow the steps in graphing system of linear
inequalities in two variables
b. adopt the importance of systems of linear
inequalities in two variables in solving word
problems
c. solve problems involving systems of linear
inequalities in two variables.

b. Explore
Activity 2: “Rice Please” Let the students read and analyze the situation below and
answer the questions that follow.

Guide questions:
1. How many variables will you use to represent each
variety?
2. Based on your answers in number 2, how will you
write the system of linear inequalities in two
variables?
c. Explain
Giving Examples Let the students consider the given examples to do the
activities that will be given to them.

Board Work/Individual Activity Let the students answer the examples given on the board or
on their seats.

Introducing Solving Problems Involving Let the students solve problems involving system of linear
Systems of Linear Inequalities in Two inequalities in two variables.
Variables

Steps in Solving Problems Involving Systems Let the students follow the steps in graphing system of
of Linear Inequalities in Two Variables linear inequalities in two variables.
d. Elaborate
Activity 4: “The Missing Piece” Let the students read and analyze the situation carefully.
Choose the letter of the puzzle pieces containing the correct
linear inequalities that best represent the given situation.

Prompt questions:
1. How do the puzzle pieces containing the linear
inequalities need to be chosen?
2. Relating in dealing with real life problems, how
would you choose the puzzle pieces containing the
correct decisions to made. In order for you to solve
your problems?
e. Evaluation
Activity 5: “Satisfy Me!” Let the students analyze the situation below and solve for
what is asked.

Mrs. Santos wanted to prepare roasted chicken and fish

tinola for dinner. A vendor sells chicken at 𝑃180 per
kilogram and milk fish at 𝑃120 per kilogram. How many
kilograms of each will she buy if the total cost is not to
exceed 𝑃600?

1) Write the system of linear inequalities in two variables

that represents the given situation.
2) Graph the system of linear inequalities in two variables.
3) Choose three (3) ordered pairs that satisfy the system of
linear inequalities in two variables.
4) Check the solution set by substituting the values of 𝑥 and
𝑦to determine whether or not it satisfies the system of linear
inequalities in two variables.
V. ASSIGNMENT
