Teacher’s Activities Student’s Activities

A. PRELIMINARY ACTIVITY
a.) Greetings
Good afternoon Grade 7! Good afternoon sir!

Let us pray first. Yes Sir (We come before You, seeking
Your direction as we begin this fresh
day of learning.
May You allow us to see with Your
eyes, hear with Your ears, and speak
with Your mouth as You guide us every
step of the way.
Join us as we travel the world.
Please keep an eye on all of our
instructors, students, and families, and
provide us the ability to love and be nice
to one another.
In the name of Jesus, Amen.
“before we start the class kindly pick up “ students picks up the pieces of trashes
the pieces of papers under your chairs” under their arm chairs”

b.) Checking of the attendance. ( student will raised their hands if

called)
( Students will tell who’s absent for the
day)

So how’s your day? Is it good so far? ”It was great Sir”

Good to hear that!

Now before we proceed to the next topic

let us have a short review.

a.) Review
What was the topic that was previously (student raises their hand and answer)
discussed? “Our previous topic was about the how a
selection can be influence by Culture,
History and environment.”

Now can you give me the factor that ( students raises their hands and answers
affects selection? sir the three factors affecting our literary
selections in Culture, History, and
Environment” )

Correct!

Now that we have mastered the previous “Yes sir!!”

lesson, before we proceed to our next topic
I have prepared a short activity for the
class, so are you ready?

B. MOTIVATION

BELIEVE IT OR NOT
I will show you some pictures that show
Filipino beliefs just tell me whether you
believe it or not.

When you bit your tongue someone is “some students say they believe, some
Thinking of you. say they don’t”
When you sweep the floor at night you “some student says yes, some students
also sweep away the luck. say no”

When you leave the person alone in the “some student says yes, some say no”
table he or she will be single forever.

From the pictures I have shown you,

whether you believe it or not these are
what we called belief. There is no right or ( students listens attentively )
wrong answers when it comes to Belief.

We Filipinos are known to have beliefs

and convictions that affect us in our daily
living, but firstly what is belief?

C. LESSON PROPER

Belief
A belief is something that is considered
correct and true. ( students listens attentively )
It expresses view points, but it is not based
on facts or other pieces of evidence.

For example
A person can believe in various things
such as cultural or personal faith, morality,
or values.

To better understand I have prepared a

short video about Filipino superstitions ( students listens attentively )
and beliefs so be quiet and watch carefully.
( students watches attentively )
Did you enjoy the short video class?

Good to hear!

Belief is also an opinion, which is why it

cannot serve as a basis for a formal
argument.
“Yes sir!”
For example
 In my personal view, Facebook
makes us closer to each other
because of the internet.
 I think cold weather is better than
hot weather. ( students listens attentively )
 I believe that ice cream is better
than cake

Belief is
 Personal ideas
 Cannot be rejected
 Express an opinion
( students listens attentively )
Are we clear on Beliefs?

Great! Let us proceed to Conviction

Now everyone in the class read the

definition of Conviction.

“Yes sir!”
Religion and Science plays a big part in
our conviction, you cannot just change
facts in science right?
“Is something that an individual is
convinced of To be convinced of, you
needed to obtain all the related
information”
For example
The fact that the sun is the center of the
universe is already proven by science and
it is not just an opinion because it is
backed up with years of research

The difference between Belief and

Conviction base on the information is that
“Belief changes in time and experience”
While Conviction remains the same

for example you may have an opinion that ( students listens attentively )
you like ice cream now but it may change
overtime depending on your cravings,
budget and mood

Like if you were a kid you prefer to play

toys rather than watching news in the
Television but now you prefer watching
News because your interest right now is ( students listens attentively )
different, you realized that it’s more
important to be updated by current
happenings or events rather playing with
toys.

But if we say we need oxygen to breathe

that fact cannot be changed, because no ( students listens attentively )
matter what our mood or interest is you
can never survive if you don’t breathe.

Now are the difference between Belief and

Conviction clear?

Ok let us proceed to four sources of ( students listens attentively )

Beliefs and Convictions which are
 Perception
 Hearsay
 Inference
 Intuition “Yes sir!”

Now what is Perception can you read!

In simpler terms Perception is our

interpretation of how we see the world
around us.
“Are based on the sensory information
you can observe directly through your
sense of sight, smell, hear, feel, and
For example your classmate may tell you taste.”
that you are a failure, but for me you are a
winner.

We all have our own perception on how

we see things, they may see things
beautiful but for you it is not

Example
You played your favorite song on your
speaker but your friends did not like the ( students listens attentively )
music that you are playing.

We all perceive things differently.

Are we clear on Perception class?

Next is Hearsay ( students listens attentively )

Read the definition class!

Now question, are second hand

information reliable or a fact? “Yes sir!”

Are you sure?

“Are secondhand information received
from other people either from television,
radio, or from another person.”
Ok correct, very good!
“yes sir”
An example of hearsay is second hand
information that you get from other
people, radio or television. ( student raises his hand and answer “ no
sir, second hand information are not
For example. reliable because it has no evidence” )

John was told by Jennifer that Lisa has a

surprise for him.

But john’s birthday is still on next month. ( students listens attentively )

Therefore it is hearsay because there is no
evidence that will back up the statement of
Jennifer.

Are we clear on hearsay?

Great!
the next source is what we called
Inferences
“Yes sir!”
read the definition class!

Inference is basically judging the person’s

action and making a belief or conclusion
out of it.

For example “are combinations of facts and beliefs

In the picture you can see the person resulting to either fact or belief
preparing sandwich, therefore I can depending on the evidences”
conclude he or she is making a sandwich
because he or she is hungry.

Another example:
You see your classmate packing clothes
and swimsuits.
Question what do you think he or she is
going to do?

Correct! Very good!

Are we clear on Inference class?

( students raises their hands and answer

And the last source is what we called “ sir I conclude he or she will go to the
intuition beach” )

Everybody read!

“Yes sir!”
Intuition is that feeling in your gut when
you instinctively know that something you
are doing is right or wrong. Or it's that
moment when you sense kindness, or fear,
in another's face.
“Are unexplainable spontaneous
For example while walking down the road feelings.”
your guts or instincts tell you there is
danger, so you walk down the other street,
later on you discover there are dogs on the
street that you should have walked to. It
means your instincts are right.

Now are we clear on intuitions?

Now that we are done on the four sources

of beliefs and convictions, there are
phrases we can use to express our beliefs
and convictions.

Example
 I feel “Yes sir!”
 In my opinion
 I believe
 I think
 It would seem that
There are formal and informal phrases
An informal phrase examples are

I BELIEVE + [ YOUR SENTENCE ] ( students listens attentively )

I believe schools should encourage
students walk or cycle to school rather
than drive

IN MY MIND + [ YOUR SENTENCE ]

In my mind no, no-one should have pay
for medical care
( students listens attentively )

A formal phrase example is

IT WOULD SEEM THAT+ [ YOUR
SENTENCE ]
It would seem that children learn best
when they are feeling comfortable.

Do we understand the phrases in

expressing belief and conviction?
( students listens attentively )

Ok let us have an activity!

D. APPLICATION
“Yes sir!”
Identify whether the given sentence shows
Perception, Inference, Hearsay, and
Intuition.

You like blueberry, but for him blueberry

taste awful.

Correct! Next one

He is reading book at the library; he might

have an exam later.

Correct! Next one ( students raises their hands and answer

“sir the answer is Perception” )
John was told by Jennifer that Lisa has a
surprise for him.

Correct! Next one ( students raises their hands and answer

“sir the answer is Inference” )
Claire sensed uneasiness when she was
walking down the alley so she decided to
change route.
( students raises their hands and answer
Correct! “sir the answer is Hearsay ” )

Your classmate told you are ugly, but for

your mom you are the prettiest person in
the world. ( students raises their hands and answer
“sir the answer is Intuition ” )
Ok next activity!
Tell me what are the phrases expressing
beliefs and conviction in the sentences

Are you ready class? ( students raises their hands and answer
“sir the answer is Perception ” )
In my opinion, the government has done a
good job for handling this crisis.

Correct! Next one

I think, we need to study more to pass the

test. “Yes sir!”

Very good! Next one! ( students raises their hands and answer
“sir the answer is In my opinion” )
I feel like we are not doing enough to help
her.

Ok very good class, correct! ( students raises their hands and answer
I think you really understand the lesson! “sir the answer is I think” )

E. GENERALIZATION

When we say belief ( students raises their hands and answer

A belief is something that is considered “sir the answer is I feel” )
correct and true.
It expresses view points, but it is not based
on facts or other pieces of evidence

Conviction is something that an individual

is convinced of. To be convinced of, you ( students listens attentively )
need to obtain all the related information.

We have four sources of beliefs and

convictions which are Perception, Hearsay,
inference, and Intuition

Perception Is our interpretation of how we

see the world around us

Hearsay are secondhand information ( students listens attentively )

Inference are combinations of facts and

beliefs resulting to either fact or belief
depending on the evidences

Intuitions are unexplainable spontaneous ( students listens attentively )

feelings.

And when we express our beliefs and

conviction we use phrases like ( students listens attentively )
I think
I feel
In my opinion
I believe ( students listens attentively )

Any questions from the class?

Ok bring out your assignment notebooks!

( students listens attentively )

“None sir!”
