PACKING & SHIPPING PROCEDURE:
A. Photographs of all equipment shall be taken prior to shipment.

B. All items shall have a shipping mark and package number.

C. A mark-up packing list will be attached on each packing box, clearly indicating which materials are
included in the box

D. Small boxes containing auxiliary equipment and spare parts will be secured to wooden pallets, black
wrapped & labelled.

E. Materials will be packed in case and preserved in accordance with GPO category 1.

F. Photographs shall be taken as equipment is loaded

UNPACKING:
A. Ensure that care is taken when removing lid of the crate. Once removed the side of the crate should
be removed to access the goods.

B. The good should remain sealed in the foil until they are inspected prior to installation. However
routine preservation and maintenance should be carried out as specified with in the following section.

SHORT TERM STORAGE PROCEDURE:

1. If possible choose a dry storage location, free of dust and well ventilated. Position equipment in such
a way as to avoid ground dampness.

2. Be sure that the bearings are fully lubricated.

3. Unpainted-machined surfaces, which are subject to corrosion, should be protected by some corrosive
resistant coating, such as multipurpose grease.

4. Install covers on the pump flanges.

5. Put a waterproof cover over the pump when stored outdoors. Make the cover tight, but loose enough
to allow air to circulate around the pump to prevent damage to exposed metal parts from condensation.

NOTE: Remove the waterproof cover every two or three months and check the pump for Corrosion. If
the pump has signs of corrosion at the check period, follow the protection procedure again.
LONG TERM STORAGE PROCEDURE:
The pump may be transported and stored in a vertical or horizontal position. Make sure that it
cannot roll or fall over.

For long periods of storage, the pump must be protected against moisture and heat.

If the pump is stored for more than 6 months, these requirements apply:

• Store in a covered and dry location.

• Store the unit free from heat, dirt, and vibrations.

• Rotate the shaft by hand several times at least every three months.

Treat bearing and machined surfaces so that they are well preserved.

After a long period of storage, the pump should be inspected before it is put into operation. Make sure
that the impeller can rotate freely. Pay special attention to the shaft seals and the cable entry.
