Boston Terrier

Boston Terrier !
I crochet the Dog in continuous spiral rounds (without joining the
rounds) with crochet hook 1.75 mm. and used Drops Alpaca Yarn
(100% Alpaca) 167m. in 50g. White color 1101 and Black color
8903 also 8mm. Glass Cabochon Flat Back Animal Eyes and Ani-
mal Nose 12mm. The eyes and nose are glued on.

Optional: metal wire for ears 0.6-0.8 mm.

- Use a stitch marker (I recommend to use contrast yarn) to mark


the end or if you prefer the beginning of each round.

- Work all the project using both loops of the stitch unless other-
wise noted.

- Some pictures may be presented with different colour of the Yarn


or some pictures can be from my other projects.

The body is a single piece crocheted in continues spiral, from bottom up. The legs and tail are cro-
cheted into the body. The head and ears are crocheted separately and sewn on.

When I crocheted I marked with contrast yarn a middle of front of the head/muzzle, with it will be
easier to see where needed decreases, specially very important dec. in a middle on top of the muzzle.
Please make sure that ( sc3tog.) are always on top/centre of the muzzle. Adjust the st. marker with
shift st. for it if needed.

Now we will crochet “lips”. We will crochet it in rows not in rounds.


Attach yarn to left side of the muzzle where we left for it 23 Front Loops Only (FLO). I crochet it in
contrast yarn for better explanation.

Ears (make 2.)


The ears are crocheted in rows (Row) not in rounds (R.).

Black Yarn.
Row 1. ch8., turn.
Row 2.-4. from 2nd st. crochet 7 sc., ch1., turn. (3 rounds)
Row 5.-6. from 2nd st. crochet 5 sc., ch1. turn. (2 rounds)
Row 7. from 2nd st. crochet 3 sc., 1 dec., ch1., turn.
Row 8. from 2nd st. crochet 4 sc., ch1. turn.
Row 9. from 2nd st. crochet 2 sc., 1 dec., ch1., turn.
Row 10. from 2nd st. crochet 1 sc., 1 dec., fasten off and cut the yarn.
Optional but suggested: Cut 2 peaces of metal wire 0.6-0.8mm. ( I used multi purpose garden wire )
approx. 12 cm. each and add it when you’ll crochet sc. all around each ear. (pic.) Bend the ends of
wires with pliers and later before you sew the ear to the head insert the ends of wire in the head to
hide it there. Also you can mask sharp ends of the wires with masking tape.

First ear: attach the yarn on bottom of the ear where was beginning of ch8, now crochet sc. all
around the ear ( with wire same time if you use it) excl. part where will sewing to the head, work on
top of the ear 3 sc. in one st., cut yarn and leave long end for sewing.
Second ear: attach yarn to opposite side of the ear and crochet all around sc. as you did with first
ear. This way the ears will be mirrored.

Boston Terrier

Eyes with upper eyelid (make 2).


Cut from suitable color felt/suede/cord 2 peaces for upper eyelids and from white felt cut two circles
diam. 11-12 mm. and cut it in half (pic.) then glue each half to the eye and then glue on the eyelids.

For the nose I used safety animal nose and with pliers I cat off back part of the nose and glue on nose
to the muzzle.

Head assembly.
With a tapestry needle and yarn ( I used the same what I crochet with) we will do some head sculpt-
ing. Please ref. to the pictures.

Insert and secure the yarn in position 1. and insert the needle again in 1. and take the needle out in 2.
pull the yarn tight, then again insert the needle with 1st. apart in 2. and take it out in 1. pull the yarn
a little bit and secure the yarn and cut it. Repeat the same for another eye and ear (3-4-4-3). Shape it
dipper in eyes area with your fingers.

If you like to make the same chest patch as in my dog, then in R32. we will use in some parts BLO
(Back Loops Only) and will use FLO (Front Loops Only) for chest patch. If your dog will have differ-
ent patch on the chest or not patch at all, then in R32. use all both loops.
R 32. 5 sc. (BLO), (2 sc., 1 dec.) x 6., 2 sc., 5 sc.(BLO). (30)
R 33. short round 10 sc., 10 hdc., 5 sc., sl. st. fasten off, cut yarn and leave long end for sewing
head to the neck. Stuff the body, make sure you stuff and shape the hips and keep bottom of the
body very flat.

Chest patch.

For the chest patch we will use 10 FLO of R32. and will crochet it in rows not rounds.

White Yarn.
Keep the body upside down and attach White Yarn to first FLO and crochet Row1.

Final Assembly.
— Try with pins different positions of the head and sew it on, remember to add some more stuffing
in neck if needed.

— sew on legs to the body, to keep front and back legs in one position.

— sew on chest patch.

With crochet hook or tapestry needle shape little bit stuffing in hips, back, head, muzzle, till you are
happy with it.
Make some finishing touches if needed and your Boston Terrier is ready!

French Bulldog

French Bulldog.

If you like to make lips bigger, then after Row3. turn your work and crochet one more row with 15sc.

Final Assembly.
— Try with pins different positions of the head and sew it on, remember to add some more stuffing
in neck if needed.

— sew front and back legs to the body, to keep front and back legs in one position.

With crochet hook or tapestry needle shape little bit stuffing in hips, back, head, muzzle, till you are
happy with it.
Make some finishing touches if needed and your French Bulldog is ready!
