Good afternoon class! Good afternoon, Ma'am.

Okay, Ms. Naig please lead the prayer. Lord, Our God...Amen.
You may now take your seats. (takes seats)
How are you today class? We're fine ma'am.
Good to hear that class.
Now please say present as I call your name. Present!
As I remember we have an assignment last (Passing of papers)
meeting. Now, please pass your assignment
forward.

corresponding parts of congruent triangles.

Presentation

So, this afternoon we will tackle about solving

corresponding parts of congruent triangles.

But before that, let us first identify our lesson

objectives.

Everyone please read. At the end of the discussion, the

students should be able to:

1. Identify corresponding parts of

congruent triangles;

2. Find the measure of

corresponding parts of

congruent triangles; and

3. Appreciate the application of

Thank you everyone. triangle congruence in real-life.

A. Activity

To understand more about solving

corresponding parts of congruent triangles.

Let’s have an activity. Class, I will group you

into 3 groups. Let’s count 1,2,3. All group 1

will be sitting on the first row, Group 2 will be

sitting on the second row, and Group 3 will be

sitting on the last row. In this activity you will

earn 20points; Accuracy – 10points,

Cooperation/Teamwork - 5points, and

Timeliness – 5points with a total of 20points.

Each group should choose one presenter.

Have a representative and get your Materials

here in front. Get the guide question. All you

have to do class is to give what is asked on

the space provided. You can now start your

activity. You are only given 5 minutes to finish

the task and after that we will check your

work.

(Please see the attached activity at the back)

Group 1, kindly present your work.

B. Analysis (students’ clap)

Now, let’s analyze your work.

What are the corresponding congruent parts?

How did you find the measure of another

angle?

How did you find the measure of another

side?

What is the measure of the interior angles?

Given ∆JOY ≅ UFL. Find the following:

Corresponding congruent angles:

1.What are the corresponding congruent parts?
∠J ≅ ∠U, ∠O ≅ ∠F, ∠Y ≅ ∠L

Corresponding congruent sides:

JO ≅ UF, OY ≅ FL, JY ≅ UL

Using angle sum theorem, we can find

2. Find the measure of ∠Y.
the measure of ∠Y.

∠J + ∠O + ∠Y = 180°

60° + 70° + ∠Y = 180°

∠Y = 180° - 60° - 70°

∠Y = 50°

∠Y ≅ ∠L, If ∠L = 50° then ∠L is also 50°

3. Find the measure of ∠L.
∠O ≅ ∠F, If ∠O = 70° then ∠F is also 70°
4. Find the measure of ∠F.
∠J ≅ ∠U or ∠J = ∠U
5. What is the value of n?
60° = (2n + 10)°

60°-10° = 2n
50° = 2n (Divide 2 both sides)

25° = n or n = 25°

Let’s have another example

Given ∆ABC and ∆ DEF. Let’s Identify a,b,c,

Corresponding congruent angles:
and x.
∠A ≅ ∠D, ∠B ≅ ∠E, ∠C ≅ ∠F
1.What are the corresponding congruent
Corresponding congruent sides:
parts?
AB ≅ DE, BC ≅ EF, AC ≅ DF

Given that ∠A ≅ ∠D or ∠A = ∠D

(5x + 10)° = 55°

5x° = 55° + 10°

What is the value of x?
5x° = 65° (Divide both sides by 5°)

X = 13°

AC ≅ DF or AC = DF

4cm = (2a)cm (divide both sides by 2)

What is the value of a?
2cm = a or a = 2cm

AB ≅ DE or AB = DE
6cm = (2b)cm (divide both side by 2)

What is the value of b? 3cm = b or b = 3cm

BC ≅ EF or BC = EF

8cm = (4c) cm (divide both sides by 4)

What is the value of c? 2cm = c or c = 2cm

Very good everyone.

Any question?

If none I’ll be the one to ask questions.

C. Abstraction

Let’s capsulized what we have learned in the No ma’am.

activity.

Did you find difficulty in answering the activity

above? Yes Ma’am.

Where you able to determine the

corresponding angles and corresponding Yes ma’am.

sides given the two congruent triangles?

Where you able to Identify the value for Y, L, By using the angle-sum theorem.

F and n?

How did you find the value for Y, L, F and n?

Let’s have ∆DUB ≅ ∆FUN. Corresponding congruent angles:

∠D ≅ ∠F, ∠DUB ≅ ∠FUN, ∠B ≅

∠N

Corresponding congruent sides:

DU ≅ FU, UB ≅ UN, DB ≅ FN

∠DUB ≅ ∠FUN

(13y + 3)° = (10y + 24)°

What are the corresponding congruent parts?
13y – 10y = 24° - 3°

3y = 21° (Divide 3 both sides)

y=7
What is the value of y?

Very good.

Is there any question or clarification?

Alright! Since there are no questions or any

clarifications, let’s practice what we have

learned.

D. Application
Direction: State the congruent parts and

solve the corresponding parts of congruent

triangles.

Corresponding congruent angles:

∠B ≅ ∠T, ∠BEO ≅ ∠TEX, ∠O ≅

∠X,

Corresponding congruent sides:

BO ≅ TX, BE ≅ TE, EO ≅ EX

What are the corresponding congruent parts? (4x -2)°= (3x + 23)°

4x – 3x = 23° + 2°

x = 25°

What is the value of x? (2x – 5) °, substitute the value of x

x = 25 hence, ∠B = (2(25) – 5) °
∠B = 50 – 5
What is the value of ∠B?
∠B = 45°
Substitute the value of x in either of the

What is the value of ∠E? expression to get the value of ∠E;

∠E = (3x + 23) °

∠E = (3(25) + 23) °

∠E = (75 + 23) °

∠E = 98°

Using angle sum theorem, we can find

What is the value of ∠O? the measure of ∠O.

∠B + ∠E + ∠O = 180°

45° + 98° + ∠O = 180°

∠O = 180° - 45° - 98°

∠O = 37°

Very good everyone.

Now, do you think triangle congruence can be Yes ma’am.

apply in real-life?

Can you give me an example of triangle in (students will give examples)

real life?

Yes, that’s right, we used triangle congruence

in the roof of our houses, in our classroom

and also in bridges. None Ma’am.

Any question with regards to our topic?

If none then get one fourth sheet of paper,

we’ll have a short quiz.
