I. OBJECTIVES
At the end of the lesson, the students should be able to:
III. PROCEDURE
Teacher’s Activity Student’s Activity
A. Preparatory Activities
1. Prayer
Please all stand for a prayer.
Martha, lead the prayer. (Martha leads the prayer) In the name of the Father, and of
the Son, and of the Holy Spirit Amen.
2. Greetings
Good Morning, class!
Good morning, Sir Paglinawan!
You may now take your seats, class!
(Do as told)
How are you today?
We are fine, Sir.
Good to hear!
3. Monitoring of Attendance
Are all present, class?
Yes, Sir.
4. Collecting of Assignment
Do we have an assignment, class?
None, Sir.
Okay!
5. Classroom Management
Before we will going to start our lesson for
today, I want you to settle yourself first and feel
comfortable.
Am I clear?
Yes, Sir.
6. Agreement
What will you do if your teacher or your
classmate is talking here in front?
We will going to listen attentively, Sir.
Very good!
Another is do not talk to your seatmate unless
you are told to do so.
Am I understood?
Yes, Sir.
7. Review
So before we’ll discuss our new topic, let’s have a
review first.
What did we discuss yesterday?
Yes, Menchie?
We discussed about Right Triangle Similarity Theorem
sir.
Yes! That’s right! Thank you, Menchie.
What is Right Triangle Similarity Theorem?
The theorem states that is the altitude is drawn to the
hypotenuse of a right triangle, then the two triangles
formed are similar to the original triangle and to each
other. It has an angle of 90ᵒ.
B. MOTIVATION
That’s good!
Okay let’s have a game. Each of your group have to
arrange the scrambled letters that will be given to you.
The first group who can find out what those words will
receive a prize! You have 5 minutes to do the activity.

C. PRESENTATION
Now, based on our activity a while ago our topic for
today is all about Pythagorean Theorem.
D. DISCUSSION
So Menchie, kindly read the definition of the said
Theorem.
Pythagorean Theorem states that the square of the
hypotenuse is equal to the sum of the square of its legs
and it can only applied in a right triangle.
Very Good! Thank you, Menchie.
Now, I will show to you an example of a right
triangle.
This is a right triangle.
Very Good!
Now with your group, arrange all the squares from
the legs a and b to hypotenuse.
So, what did you observe?
Yes, Nicca. Sir, I observe that the sum of the square of two legs is
equal to the square of the hypotenuse.
That’s right!
So, it is true that we can use the Pythagorean
Theorem to find the length of the hypotenuse.
Example:
The leg a measures 6 and leg b measures 8
So using the formula:
c 2=a2+ b2
c 2=6 2+ 82
c 2=36+ 64
c= √ 100
c=10
I will group the class into two groups. Each group will be
given a problem for the members to solve. Write your
answer in a manila paper and assign one or two member/s
to report and explain your answer.
#1 c 2=a2+ b2
52=3 2+ b2
5 25=9+b 2
b 25−9=b2
16=b2
b=√ 16
3 b=4
#2
c c 2=a2+ b2
12 c 2=122 +52
c 2=144 +25
c= √ 169
5 c=13
F. GENERALIZATION
G. EVALUATION
1. Find the missing side of the given right triangle.
x 2=62 +7 2
x 2=36+ 49
x x 2=85
6 x=√ 85
7
2. A 10 feet ladder is leaning against a vertical wall.
If the foot of the ladder is 6 feet from the wall,
how high does the ladder reach?
c 2=6 2+10 2
c 2=36+ 100
c 2=136
c= √ 169
c=2 √ 34
