Self-Assessment Activity 1

1. You just learned the distinctions between primary and secondary groups. Now, think of an
exception to this in your own life. When has someone moved from your secondary group to your
primary group? How did this occur? Is this person still a member of your primary group? In one
paragraph, describe how you met someone in your secondary group who then became a member
of your primary group.
I am a member of the religious organization, Iglesia Ni Cristo. Ever since I was a child, I
am part of the choir group of our church. There I met the people I never thought that up until now
will still be part of my circle, despite of growing apart and having differences when in comes in
our personalities, likes, and dislikes. I thought that our friendship will only remain inside the
church but we just found ourselves sitting at a coffee shop, having a casual conversation for the
past 8 years. Even our own families label us as “siblings” because we are they always see us
together. Even though this pandemic limits our movements and activities inside the church, we
still find time to catch-up with one another.

Self-Assessment Activity 2

2. “Mirroring” - Our significant others, parents, teachers, and friends have different perceptions
on us. Recall how do they perceive you and how these perceptions affect the way you perceive
yourself. Write your answers on the blanks below.
2.1 Parent’s Perception
I think my parents see me as the “stubborn” child because I always want things go
on my way. I think they also see me as overreacting, the “Miss-Know-It-All”, and
the independent one. With their perception, I realized that I built a strong character
in front of them that made me scared to show them the soft side of me.
2.2 Teacher’s Perception
I think my teachers see me as a responsible student because whenever there are
group tasks, they always appoint me as a leader or in-charge. With their
perceptions, it made me realized that I do organize and handle works well that
they’ve trusted me to be the head of the group.
2.3 Friend’s Perception
I think my friends see me as the jolly and bratty woman. With their perceptions, I
see myself as someone who have a intimidating aura because they once told me that
I look angry everytime.
