Winter 2024 Health Fair at Westminster Rose Center
For our Winter Health Fair, our 68 volunteers were pleased to serve 188 patients. Through our
collaborations with providers, VCH was able to provide screenings such as vision, cholesterol,
hemoglobin and many more services to help alleviate some of the health disparities within the
Vietnamese and Hispanic communities. We would not have been able to achieve this level of
success without the support of our providers and compassion of our volunteers.

 WINTER QUARTER RECAP

Health Sites + Special Site

Del Amo Plaza, Asian Garden Mall, and Shower of Hope

This quarter, our volunteers were able to serve 102 patients at Del Amo Plaza in Rancho
Dominguez and Asian Garden Mall in Westminster. Through our 8 successful health sites
throughout weeks 2-7, we were able to offer basic health screenings such as hypertension,
vision, and BMI to our service recipients. VCH also had the opportunity to volunteer with Shower
of Hope to help provide showers and other necessities to the unhoused community in LA!

Winter 2024 Internship!

This past Winter Quarter, VCH’s Intern Class of 2024 graduated! Over this past quarter,
our interns worked super hard on various projects like case reports, research posters,
and creating a special site! Interns were able to gain a greater understanding of what
VCH does behind the scenes! Congrats, interns!

 Committee Highlights
We encourage VCH volunteers to get involved by contributing their ideas in our committees! Every quarter,
the committees educate the community and improve the patient experience through a variety of projects.

Language Development Patient Education & Wellness (PEW)

LD worked on their Health Literacy project
and led a Spanish Language workshop to
teach our members useful Spanish
vocabulary. They also helped translate
VCH infographics and newsletters created
by other committees!
This quarter, PEW created a Jeopardy
workshop to educate our members on
health topics that affect our members and
patients. They created station-specific
health fair pamphlets.

Patient Outreach Navigators

PO contacted over 400 patients and
informed them of VCH’s Winter Health Fair!
This quarter, PO created a Tết-themed
newsletter and collaborated with Navigators
to put together a Research Poster board to
present at our Health Fair.
Navigators collaborated with Patient
Outreach to create a poster highlighting
significant health trends in our patients
and helped guide patients and providers
on the day of HF!

Nutrition
This quarter, Nutrition created campaign
posters to promote health practices at
our Health Fair. They also created small
interactive projects like fun fact
brochures and Instagram story quizzes!
