A. REVIEW
The teacher will check the assignment and will let the students recite the
previous topic.
Answer:
2. Solve a triangle knowing: Two Sides and an Included Angle.
Answer:
B. MOTIVATION
The teacher will divide the class into three and will show pictures and let the
students observe and guess what’s next in the pattern. There are two choices.
The students will follow the instruction on what to do.

Number of
Sticks
After filling out the table, the teacher will discuss the activity meeting the topic
which is the Arithmetic sequence.
Number of 1 2 3 4 n
Squares
Number of 4 7 10 13
Sticks
The teacher will give different examples and let the students practice in the
board.
Formula:
= + (n-1) d
is the first term
d is the common difference
n is the number of terms
is the nth term
is 4
d (common difference) is 3
n is 20
A20= 4 + (20-1)3
A20 =4+(19)3
=4+ 57
=61
The teacher will discuss the other way of getting the common difference.
Formula:
( )
Given: , d= ?, n = 6,
Solution:
( )
( )
( )
9=d
B. Reporting
The teacher will give a group work activity. The representative of the group will
answer on the board and discuss. They are only given five minutes to discuss
and answer.
Group 1:
Find the 25th term of the arithmetic sequence 3, 7, 11, 15, 19,…
Group 2:
Find the 10th term of the arithmetic sequence 5, 12, 19, 26, …
Group 3:
Find the 6th term of the arithmetic sequence 1,0,-1,-2,-3,…
C. Drills
The teacher will call another five students and answer the activity in the board.
2. A restaurant has one square table which seat four people. When two tables
are placed together, six people can be seated. If 20 square tables are placed
together to form one long table, how many people can be seated? (1 min./5pts.)
D. GENERALIZATION
The teacher will call a student randomly to recite or retell to summarize the topic. The
teacher will show a graphic organizer.
Arithmetic
Sequence
It is a sequence 𝑎𝑛 = 𝑎 + (n-1) d
where every term 𝑎 is the first term
after the first is d is the common
obtained by adding difference
a constant called n is the number of
the common terms
difference. 𝑎𝑛 is the nth term
IV. EVALUATION
In a sheet of paper (crosswise), answer the following questions.
A. Solve the nth term of a given arithmetic sequence.
1. Find the 6th term of the arithmetic sequence 1,0,-1,-2,-3,…
2. Find the 9th term of the arithmetic sequence with a1=10 and d=-1/2
3. What is the 15th term of the arithmetic sequence 2, 4, 6, 8,…?
B. Identify whether it is an arithmetic sequence or not. Write AS if yes, and
NAS if not.
1. 3, 7, 11, 15, 19,…
2. 4, 16, 64, 256,…
3. 48, 24, 12, 6, 3,…
C. Solve the nth term of arithmetic sequence involving real life situations.
4. A stack of bricks has 61 bricks in the bottom layer, 58 bricks in the 2 nd layer,
55 bricks in the 3rd layer and 10 bricks in the last layer. How many bricks are
there in the 11th layer?
5. The seats in a theater are arranged so that there are 70 seats in the 1st row,
72 seats in the 2nd row and so on for 30 rows altogether. How many seats are
there in the last row?
