The environment is everything
that surrounds and affects
us. Its three components
are air, land and water.

Therefore, it is our responsibility to make water and air clean


and safe. Below are ways on how to make water and or clean
and safe.

1. Avoid pouring toxic chemicals down the drain or on the ground.

2. Pump out septic tanks once a year.

3. Avoid putting your trashes or wastes into lakes, streams, rivers,


and ponds.

4. Water must be filtered first to trap and remove large impurities.


Any cloth or coffee filter can be used as a filter.

5. If water is cloudy, it can be made to stand for half a day, after


which clear water can be scooped and to be filtered.
B. Ways to Make the Air Clean and Safe

1. Avoid smoking. Cigarette smoke releases carbon monoxide and


other chemicals.

2. Avoid unnecessary use of motor vehicles. It burns more fuel and


produces more pollutants into the air.

3. Use public transport as much as possible or use a bike or simply


walk if you can.

4. Do not burn your wastes. Practice waste management like


segregation and recycling.

5. Plant trees. Trees serve as carbon-sinks and produce oxygen.
