Plan Time

I. OBJECTIVES
A. Content Standards The learners demonstrate understanding of; the
particle nature of matter as basis of explaining
properties, physical changes, and structure of
substances and mixtures.
B. Performance Standards The learners shall be able to; present how water
behave in its different states within the water cycle.
C. Learning Competencies The learners should be able to: explain the properties
of solid, liquids and gases based on the particle nature
of matter.
Lesson Objectives  Identify the states of matter if its solid, liquid
or gas
 Differentiate the characteristics of solid,
liquid, and gas.
II. CONTENT Unit III, Module 2
Topic: States of matter: Solid, Liquid, and Gas.
111 LEARNING RESOURCES
A. References Science Learners Module
1. Teacher’s Guides 151-152
2. Learner’s Materials Pages 6-9
3. Textbook Pages 6-9
4. Additional Reference from Learning Resources www.google.com, www.youtube.com, books
B. Other Learning Resources
III. PROCEDURES
A. Reviewing previous lesson or presenting the new 1. What was our lesson last meeting
lesson 2. What are the states of matter?
ELICIT
B. Establishing a purpose of the lesson Tell the students the objectives of the lesson:
 Identify the properties of matter if its solid,
liquid, or gas
 Differentiate the characteristics of solid,
liquid, and gas
C. Presenting examples/instances of the new lesson Directions: Look at the picture and describe it.
ENGAGE

D. Discussing the new concepts and practicing new Do Activity No.3 “paste it”
skills #1
EXPLORE
E. Discussing the new concept and practicing new Discuss the result of the activity.
skills #2 Answer the questions given.
F. Developing mastery (Leads to formative Discuss what is Matter?
assessment) What is Solid? Liquid? Gas?
EXPLAIN
G. Finding practical applications to concepts and skills Have you experienced drinking coffee?
in daily living.
H. Making generalization and abstraction Matter is everything we see or even not seen in the
ELABORATE universe is matter. Matter is anything that occupies
space and has mass.
Matter is made of tiny particles.
Solid
It has definite shape and volume because its particles
are closely packed together in a fixed position. These
particles vibrate and are held together by strong
attractive forces. It is difficult to compress the particles.
Liquid
It has no definite volume and takes the shape of the
container. Liquid flows easily because its particles have
enough space and have less attractive force. The
spaces in the particles allows the particles to be
compressed a little bit.
Gas
It takes the volume of the container. The particles are
far from each other that is why they have the weak
attractive force and can flow easily. They occupy the
entire space available. The large spaces in between
particles allows particles to be compressed easily.

I. Evaluating learning Directions: Write S if the statement describes a solid,

EVALUATION L if liquid and G if gas.
_______1. Has definite shape and volume.
_______2. Does not flow easily.
_______3. Has no definite shape and volume.
_______4. Flows easily.
_______5. Has no definite shape but has definite
volume.
J. Additional activities for application or remediation  Explain what happens to the particles in a
EXTEND liquid as it becomes hotter.

V. REMARKS

VI. REFLECTION

A. No. of learners who earned 80% on the formative

assessment
B. No. of learners who require additional activities for
remediation.
C. Did the remedial lessons work? No. of learners who
have caught up with the lesson.
D. No. of learners who continue to require
remediation.
E. Which of my teaching strategies worked well? Why
did this work?
F. What difficulties did I encounter which my principal
or supervisor can help me solve?
G. What innovation or localized materials did I
use/discover which I wish to share with other
teachers?
