SEMI-DETAILED LESSON PLAN IN EARTH AND LIFE SCIENCE

I. Objectives
At the end of this discussion, the students are able to;
✓ Identify what are those energy- giving molecules
✓ Differentiate those energy- giving molecules
✓ Create an essay about the comparison of Glucose and ATP

II. Subject Matter

a. Topic: Energy- giving molecules: The Glucose and ATP
b. Reference: Science in Today’s World, Earth and Life Science. Pp. 118.
c. Materials: Book, Laptop, PowerPoint Presentation, LED screen.
d. Science Concept: Glucose and ATP are the two basic energy-producing
chemicals that are used by all living things. During the process of
photosynthesis, glucose is produced. While ATP stores less energy, each
releases enough of it to carry out the task required by the cell.
e. Process skills: Identifying, Differentiating, Creating

III. Procedure:
A. Preliminary activities
i. Greeting
The teacher should greet the class, and ask them who will volunteer to
lead the prayer
ii. Setting of standards
The teacher should present the house rules for students to be follow
iii. Attendance
Provide a bond paper and let everyone to write their names
iv. Ice breaker
The teacher gives a student an instruction to be followed
v. Review
Ask some of the students about what are they discuss last meeting

B. Lesson Proper
a) ENGAGE
➢ Ask the students about the following logics and ask them of
what is the word that they form.

___ I’m in the beginning of the “GLOBE” ___ I’m the only one in “ALL”
___ I am the one after “K” ___ You can see me before “U”
___ I am the opposite of “I” ___ I’m the beginning of the “PROCESS”
___ My shape is like a curve
___ You can find me in the center of the “BLOOD”
___ I am the end of the process
___ You can see me twice in the “ENERGY”
➢ The hidden keywords behind those logics are the focus of this
discussion.

b) EXPLORE
➢ The teacher shows in the class the rectangles with random
colors. Each color has a corresponding question based on the
approaching topic (There is no wrong answer since it is only
serves as pre- assessment).

It is energy- giving molecule which is made during photosynthesis.

It has an acronym of Adenosine Triphosphate.

How does ATP give energy?

If the ATP gives one of its phosphates, it will become ______.

What are the two Energy- giving molecules?

➢ The teacher selects a student from the class to chose a color,

then the selected student can choose one of his/her classmate
to answer the question.
c) EXPLAIN
➢ The teacher can explain the following by using PowerPoint
presentation.
1. What is the energy- giving molecules and what are
belongs to it?
2. What is glucose and where did it come from?
3. How does Glucose give energy?
4. What is ATP and where did it come from?
5. How does ATP give energy?

d) ELABORATE
➢ The teacher should command the class to create an essay about
the differences of glucose and ATP.

e) EVALUATE
Matching Type
➢ Write only the letter of the correct answers that can be found in
column B.
A B.

____ 1. It is made during the process of a. ADP

photosynthesis.
b. Energy- giving molecules
____ 2. Also known as Adenosine
c. Second half
Triphosphate.
d. Glucose
____ 3. The Glucose and ATP belong here.
e. First half
____ 4. ATP is made during the _____
process of photosynthesis f. ATP
____ 5. If the ATP give one of its
phosphates it will become _______.
