NARRATIVE REPORT ON EARTHQUAKE DRILL
It is important to orient people on earthquake preparedness in order to be

informed of what to do before, during and after an earthquake. During an
earthquake, school children are one of the most vulnerable. As such, it is
important for school administrators and teachers to be informed on how to
properly conduct an earthquake drill. Teachers are the ones who will guide t h e
students. They are the ones who will teach pupils how to protect
themselves. The conduct of an earthquake drill requires planning
and designing of evacuation procedure, as well as orienting
t e a c h e r s a n d ultimately pupils on how to do the earthquake drill.
The NSED is a quarterly activity which aims to educate the public on disaster
preparedness against earthquakes, showcase government capability on disaster
response and to test the pre-designed contingency plans of
individuals local disaster risk reduction and management
c o u n c i l s ( LDRRMCs).
Pursuant to the Regional Memorandum, all Schools Division Offices and

S c h o o l s a r e e n j o i n e d t o c o n d u c t t h e 3 rd Quarter National Simultaneous
E a rt hquake Drill (NSED) 2017 to test and evaluate the effectiveness
of various contingency plans, systems, and policies of schools and other DepEd
field offices in the eventuality of disasters and/or emergencies.
Before the conduct of the earthquake drill, the pupils are instructed
what to do during an earthquake. Teaching staff of Arturo Borja Elementary
School conducted the school earthquake drill on September 27, 2017 at two o’clock
in the afternoon. The drill was started by ringing the bell and the pupils of
Arturo Borja Elementary School. All participated actively. The drill was
smoothly done because the pupils knew already on what to do when an earthquake
occurs based on their previous experiences on earthquake drill.
I n s u m m a r y , t h e 3 rdQuarter National Simultaneous Earthquake Drill

(NSED) 2017 was successful; nobody hurts because the routine is systematic and the
entire school populace was cooperative during the said activity.
