fundamental concept of genetics.

Answer the questions correctly. CHROMOSOMES
A person with one dominant allele for a brown hair and one recessive FALSE – because the resulting characteristic is due
allele for black hair will be having a black hair. TRUE or FALSE? Justify to both alleles being expressed equally.
your answer.
A child with one dominant allele for a blue eye and one recessive TRUE Because it only needs one copy of dominant
allele for a brown eye will be having a blue eye. TRUE or FALSE? blue eye to have blue eye.
Justify your answer.

A woman with two recessive alleles for a straight hair will be having a TRUE Because it was called Recessive alleles only
straight hair. TRUE or FALSE? Justify you answer. show their effect if the individual has two copies
of the allele (also known as being homozygous).

A puppy is having a dominant allele for a black fur and a dominant White because the Dominant Allele only needs 1
allele for white fur, what is the color of the puppy? Explain. copy of allele.
RATIONALE

The artifact is designed to introduce the student to nearly all of the fundamental concepts of
genetics. The first half of the course will focus on the basic principles of genetics. While the second half of
the course will deal with the Mendelian, Non-Mendelian and the introduction of evolutionary genetics.
Genetics is the study of how living things receive common traits from previous generations. These
traits are described by the genetic information carried by a molecule called DNA. A gene is a hereditary
unit consisting of DNA that occupies a spot on a chromosome and determines a characteristic in an
organism.

With the work of the Augustinian friar Gregor Johann Mendel. His work on pea plants, published in
1866, established the theory. The history of genetics dates from the classical era with contributions by
Pythagoras, Hippocrates, Aristotle, Epicurus, and others. Modern genetics began of Mendelian
inheritance.
REFLECTION

In studying genetics research can use DNA sequencing to identify variations in a

person’s genome. Some variations between individuals result from epigenetic differences.
These are changes in gene function, some of which can be inherited but are not the result
of changes in DNA sequence.
The program outcome achieved the following: Appreciate the importance of having
knowledge on the concept, history and field of genetics; Familiarize the concept of
heredity and variation; Discuss the knowledge on cytogenetics and molecular genetics
through defining and comparing and contrasting, familiarizing, giving examples and
explaining its concept.
During the task I met a lot of unfamiliar words and scientific names that leads me to a
better learning. I found it difficult at first because I encounter such difficulties in
understanding the history and finding the correct pattern on how to start and finish
analyzing the reading material to finally learn the important things on it. After the task, I
