Graduating students usually have a variety of options to contemplate. You will need to complete each of
following sections of the Transition Plan, which is intended to help you better understand which path interests
you most so that you can pursue it after graduation.

Follow these steps:

1) Complete Your Career Plans (You will need a Plan A & B)

2) Next, complete two of the following three options:

 Post-secondary education or training (You’ve already completed most of this research with your PSI
Research Assignment)
 Travel / Gap year
 Working full-time and living on your own.

4) Submit your Transition Plan online through Teams before the deadline and post your completed Transition
Plan to your CLC Portfolio Page on your website.

CAREER: PLAN A
Compared to the other types of camera work, directing and general
photography I've done before, my favorite has been working as the DP
which allows me to do camera work and direct a team creatively. I enjoy
this lifestyle as the many locations and new people always keep it
interesting compared to an office job. Currently, this option seems the best
for me as it follows my work experience that I have already collected with
four years of film class, going into VFS next year and, I have experience
with being a camera assistant to another DPs work. Generally, even if things
change with my interests in job specifics, I am confident that I would
generally stay in the same category of the film industry.
The ups and downs generally are the schedules as you can be called out
with little warning but in turn the pay is always good. The responsibilities
can be stressful sometimes when managing a bigger team and if there is an
unpredictable problem that occurs, sometimes it can take longer than
expected to fix and therefore mess up the schedule more. The salary can
range greatly depending on the type of work done in that year, generally
from around $80,000-140,000. The lifestyle is sporadic as there may be
periods where you won't have work and others where the work is all
crammed, but there is a union (DGC) that will cover inconsistent pay issues.
The advancement opportunities can be mainly within the film industry like
getting opportunities to work with bigger companies.

Generally, in the film industry they don’t care as much for degrees, only for
work experience and motivation. Although, I am taking film classes at VFS
to get a diploma in film which is generally the best route to start working a
job in the industry quicker.
CAREER: PLAN B
I enjoy the fact that I have been making storyboards for fun since grade 6
and that doing this as a career would definitely be relaxing as it would be
something that is natural to me. This lifestyle would most likely be more of
an office job as doing storyboards would require me to be at a computer
most of the time. Although, storyboarding would be great as it is still within
the film industry and if I start off with doing storyboards for other projects,
then I could advance onto pitching my own animated project one day.
The ups and downs generally are that for most of the time I would be
working and drawing things for other people's projects and wouldn't have a
part in the story creation side. Although, this would be a good gateway
position into getting more opportunities to write my own animated stories.
The responsibilities are to manage your own production speed and to
complete the work before the deadline, which is very firm for film projects.
The salary ranges from $70,000-100,000. The lifestyle is more consistent as
the work hours would normally be a standard 9-5 day with a regular but
lower than director of photography salary. The advancement opportunities
are vast as you could branch out to many different art/drawing specific
categories in the film industry. For example, animation, writing for film and
if you're lucky, becoming a creative director of your own animated project.
