vocabulary related to Food (fruit)

Materials / Aids: the whiteboard, the digital and printed textbook, worksheet, The Fruit

Preamble: This lesson is about The Fruit Shop - vocabulary and activities. Ss are
encouraged to develop speaking abilities regarded to shopping in general,
and shopping in a Fruit Shop in particular. The lesson focuses on special
items: shopping list, prices, colors, asking and giving information on the
related topic. This lesson is a recreational, funny, interactive one, with
focus on enjoying creating specific attitudes and emotions.
Lesson objectives: At the end of the lesson Ss will be able to:
- Recognize a variety of fruit;
- Talk about important aspects of the day: shopping;
- Produce specific language related to the topic.
Aims:
Main aim: to provide practice in understanding the specific of a Fruit Shop;
Subsidiary aims: to reinforce previous vocabulary and to help Ss develop new vocabulary
related to the theme; to motivate Ss to want to find out more, speak and enjoy communication.
Assumptions: Ss are familiar to an accelerated method of vocabulary practice, they have good
communicative abilities and can be easily stimulated to participate actively in a lesson of
developing listening abilities and reinforcing vocabulary on the topic. The exercises presented
for the creation of Arts and Crafts are attractive and relaxing.
Anticipated problems: Time may be a problem. Ss get very enthusiastic when creating Arts and
Crafts, so not being able to share personal creations to the classmates might become frustrating
for them. In order to avoid this, Ss will be encouraged to offer their works to the teacher to
organize an ad-hoc exhibition on the whiteboard.
