Atis Leaves
Mosquito
Repellent
I. PROBLEM

Will this mosquito repellent ( atis leaves ) be effective in repelling mosquitoes?

II. TITTLE

Atis (Anona squamosa) leaves as Mosquito Repellent.

III. RATIONALE
A.

1. We arrive at that kind of problem because of having the increase


of dengue incidents commonly in kids.

2. We wanted to investigate in this problem because there are different products


of mosquito repellents readily available for consumers but most of them are
highly made from chemicals that might be damage or cause of irritating to the
skin and also it is too expensive, making it less accessible to most people.
IV. MATERIALS

Cooking Oil Paraffin Wax Atis leaves

Lime/Dayap (optional) Pan

Strainer Knife

Grater Ladle
V. PROCEDURES

1. Get an atis leaves and then wash it, after washing soak it in a bowl of
water in about 5 minutes just to keep it moist.

2. Now, prepare all the things that you will need.

3. Then, use the knife and then chop the leaves into the smaller pieces.
4. Pour the cooking oil into the pan together with the chopped atis leaves,
and wait until it boils.

5. While waiting, start to chop the paraffin wax until it getting smaller

6. After of the decoction boil, remove the atis leaves from the pan and strain.
7. Pour the chopped paraffin wax into the mixture and let it boil for about
3 – 4 minutes. After that remove the pan from the flame and leave it until
it to cool.

8. When it is already cool, put it in small container.

VI. IMPLICATION

The importance of this product, it will be the benefits to the school as well
as in the community. Because it’s proven the effectiveness of this medicinal
products as anti-dengue insect bites disease and all mosquito borne diseases
like malaria and filariasis. It also serves as a personal care product used in
preventing mosquito bites that cause itchiness, inflammation and discomfort
to individuals. And this product marketed for all types of consumers, either
rich or poor who are looking for inexpensive but effective, safe and organic.
VII. TIMETABLE

January 5 – Submission of the proposal.

March 1 - The written Report and Oral Defense.

B. Our group will spend Php 80.00 for our project and contribution will be
Php 11.00 for each members.

C. Our parents has already approved the budget but the leader did not make
a letter to our parents for the possible expenses.
