EMS
FLOWCHART
Stores
1. Document:The goods received note is a document shows material code,
description ,specification and value of material.
2. Bill of material(BOM):comprehensive list of all components and materials
required to manufacture a specific electronic products.
3. Delivery challan: is a document providing proof of goods delivery to the
customers.
4. Verify:confirming the accuracy or existence of inventory items in stores.
5. Sample product study: involves evaluating prototype products displayed in stores
before full scale production.
Surface Mount Technology
1. Baking: process of pre heating components to remove moisture before soldering
onto circuit board
2. Numbering:Identifying components on circuit board for assembly and
troubleshooting.
3. Screen printing: depositing solder paste onto PCB through stencil for component
attachment.
4. Pick and place:involves automated selection and precise positioning of electronic
components onto PCB.
5. Pre flow inspection:component examination and solder paste on PCB before
soldering to ensure alignment.
Reflow soldering
Process of heating solder paste to melt and create electrical
connection between surface mount.
It has 3 stages namely
Pre heater: ensures board is evenly heated to temperature to
avoid damage to PCB components.
Soaking: allows for removal of volatiles within solder paste and
activation of flux.
Reflow: Soldering is done.
Automated optical Inspection

It does work and identify assembly errors with

cameras and images processing software ,such
as soldering short circuits ,missing or misplaced
components, and disconnected components.As
well as AOI improves the error detection over
visual inspection with more complicated PCBs
and larger production quantity.
Pin Through Hole
Mounting components by inserting their leads through
holes drilled in the PCB and soldering them on the opposite
side.
Masking: applying a protective coating to prevent
unwanted soldering during assembly process
Types of Masking:
1. Paper tape - low thickness.
2. Rayon tape - high thickness.
3. Caption tape - coating.

Stuffing
Inserting components into PCB holes before soldering.
1. Line assembly: 4/5 members divide stages according
to components.
2. Mass assembly: whole components is mounted by
single person.

Wave soldering
Passing a PCB over a molten solder wave to solder through hole
components.
It has 4 stages:
Flux: remove oxidation and improve solder adhesion on PCBs.
Pre heater: ensures board is evenly heated to temperature to
avoid damage to PCB or components.
Solder bath: container of molten solder used to solder
components on bottom side of PCB.
Cooling: rapidly solidifies solder joints on PCB to prevent
damages and warping.
Post Manufacturing Hand Soldering Operation
Final Soldering Inspection: Checks weather the soldering is done properly.
Debug: identifying and fixing any issues or defects that occur after automated soldering
process.
Testing: ensures board function correctly and meets specifications through electrical and
functional check.
