LESSON

Lesson 14: Application of Heat and Pressure

Such settings can differ due to differences in the garments and
heat presses. Check different combinations of time / temperature to find one that
fits best for the combination of your garment / heat-press. Please note that higher
temperatures usually take up less time to prevent scorching. An inadequate
combination of time / temperature can hinder Chroma Blast from curing the cotton
fibers completely, resulting in washing out.

Choosing the right temperature when iron clothing is ready will make the difference
between ease and catastrophe. Selecting the right temperature will make ironing
simpler and quicker. False temperature means more effort, or more catastrophe.
Fortunately, most irons have a sliding scale which indicates the appropriate setting
for different fabric types. Using a scale of 1 to 7-1 as a measure as it is cold, 7
being very hot.

While all irons differ in temperature as per manufacturer, here is a basic guideline
of proper temperatures for ironing different fabrics:

Type of Fabrics Required Heat

Temperature
Linen 230 °C (445 °F
Triacetate 200 °C (390 °F)
Cotton 204 °C (400 °F)
Viscose 190 °C (375 °F)
Wool 148 °C (300 °F)
Polyester 148 °C (300 °F)
Silk 148 °C (300 °F)
Acetate 143 °C (290 °F)
Acrylic 135 °C (275 °F)
Lycra/Spandex 135 °C (275 °F)
Nylon 135 °C (275 °F)
