human reproductive system work.

B. Performance Standards Practice proper hygiene to care of the reproductive organs

Explain the Menstrual Cycle (S5LT-llc-3)

 Identify the phases in the menstrual cycle.

C. Learning Competencies/  Explain the Menstrual Cycle (S5LT-llc-3)
Objectives Write the LC code  Recognize the importance of understanding the menstrual
for each cycle.

II. CONTENT The Menstrual Cycle

1) Math - Students can calculate the average length of their

menstrual cycle using data they collect.
Subject Integration 2) Health - Students can learn about the physical and emotional
changes that occur during the menstrual cycle and how to
manage them.
3) Social Studies - Students can explore cultural beliefs and
practices related to menstruation in different societies.

 Divide the class into two groups. Choose 10 players
from each group to answer the questions about the
B. Establishing a Purpose for female reproductive system.
the Lesson  For each question, players will jump on the footprint trail
to reach the set of pictures that contain the different
parts of the female reproductive system.
 Once they reach the set of pictures, they need to find the
picture of the part being described/asked and show it to
the class.
 The first player to show the correct picture must tell the
name of the part shown in the picture.

C. Presenting Ask:

new lesson system?
2. Why are egg cells important?
3. What happens when an egg cell unites with a sperm
cell?
4. What do you think will happen to the egg cell in the
absence of a sperm cell?

Say:
Today we will discover what happens to an egg cell in the
absence of a sperm cell.

EXPLAIN
F. Developing mastery (leads
to Formative Assessment 3) Ask the following questions:

1. What have your observed in the first phase of the menstrual

cycle?
Say: During this phase, the uterine lining breaks down together
with the unfertilized egg cell.

2. Explain your observation in the second phase.

Say: In this phase, the uterine starts to repair.

3. Based on your observations on the third phase of the

menstrual cycle, what do you think happens?
Say: This phase is called the ovulation period. The ovary
releases another mature egg cell.

4. Explain your observation in the fourth phase of the menstrual

cycle.
Say: In the fourth phase, the uterine lining thickens again to
prepare for possible pregnancy.

Group 4
Activity: The Menstrual Cycle Story

Encircle the correct word to complete the Menstrual Cycle Story.

Once upon a time, there was a human gamete called the egg cell. The
egg cell travels in 4 phases in the fallopian tube every
28 days 14 days
The first stage of her journey begins when someone gets their period -
when the thickened lining of the
uterus ovary
is no longer needed. After the menstruation, the uterus will
breakdown repair
itself in preparation for possible pregnancy. After that, ovulation will now
soon begin. The egg cell will be released from the
uterus ovary
Then, the egg cell will travel to the fallopian tube and will wait for the
human cell sperm cell
for fertilization to take place. If fertilization will not take place, the linings
will continue to thicken and the cycle will begin once more.
