I.OBJECTIVES
A. CONTENT STANDARD The student demonstrates understanding of the basic concepts of trigonometry.
The student is able to apply the concepts of trigonometric ratios to formulate and solve real-life
B. PERFOMANCE STANDARDS
problems with precision and accuracy
As you go through this lesson, think of these important questions:
C. LEARNING COMPETENCIES/
OBJECTIVES/CODE • “How to illustrate angle of elevation and angle of depression?
• “What is the importance of angle of elevation and depression in our daily life?
II. CONTENT Angles of Elevation and Angles of Depression

IV. PROCEDURES
A. Reviewing Previous Lesson/Presenting New Lesson The teacher will conduct activity entitled “4 Pics 1 Word”.
B. Establishing a Purpose for the lesson The teacher will ask the students to do the activity entitled “Look Up, Look Down”.

The teacher will discuss what is the “Line of Sight”, “Angle of Elevation”, and “Angle of
Depression”.

Line of Sight - It is an imaginary line that connects the eye of an observer to the object being
observed.
C. Presenting Examples/ instances of the new lesson
Angle of Elevation - It is the angle from the horizontal to the line of sight of the observer to the
object ABOVE.

Angle of Depression - It is the angle from the horizontal to the line of sight of the observer to
the object BELOW.

Learning Task 2: Identify Me!

E. Discussing new concepts and practicing skills #2 questions regarding the activity.

Draw the pictures presented by the information in the problems given.

1. The angle of elevation of the top of the building from a point 30 meters away from the
building is 65°.

2. An airplane is flying at a certain height above the ground. The distance along the ground
from the airplane to an airport is 6 kilometers. The angle of depression of the airplane to
F. Developing mastery (leads to formative assessment) the airport is 33.69°.

3. A hiker is 400 meters away from the base of a radio tower. The angle of elevation to the
top of the tower is 46°.

4. A bird sits on top of a 5-meter lamp post. The angle of depression from the bird to the
feet of an observer standing away from the lamp post is 35°.
