Before you begin ...

» Size of the doll approx. 8-9 inch
» Schachenmayr Catania (100% cotton/length 137 yds/weight 0.1 lbs)
soft apricot (color 263), pink (color 225) and strawberry (color 258),
each 0.1 lbs
Schachenmayr Catania Denim (100% cotton/length 137 yds/weight 0.1 lbs)
tin (color 190), 0.1 lbs
» Remnant of pink and black embroidery yarn
» crochet hook 2,5 mm
» two safety eyes, ø 8 mm, black (It‘s also possible to embroider the eyes.)
» stuffing, stitch markers
» craft wire (aluminum wire, ø 3 mm)
» tapestry needle with blunt tip, sewing needle, curved needle

First a few suggestions ...

» Crochet Terms and abbreviations used are American terms.
» These techniques will be used and are therefore not further explained: single crochet, half double crochet,
double crochet etc. Special skills and tips are explained in the technical part.
» We will be crocheting in continuous rounds. Head and body are crocheted in one piece, starting at the feet.
» Always crochet as tightly as possible (except when specifically told not to). If the holes between the stitches are
too big, use a smaller size crochet hook.
» Use stitch markers, it is then easier to count the rounds, increases and decreases.
» If you feel like there is no more space left for stuffing, do put in a handful more!
» Modelling accurately when stuffing will give this girl the perfect shape! So don’t just stuff the stuffing
randomly, but stuff it in the right parts ;)!

A piece of advice ...

This doll is meant for collectors. Be careful especially with children under the age of 3 years. The safety eyes
and yarn can come loose, depending on your crochet skills, stuffing can come out.

not cut off the yarn you will use the yarn to carry on working.

Joining the legs together

Crochet the legs in soft apricot. The legs are joined in a figure eight in sc.
Use the yarn of the second leg (for clarity a green yarn has been used in the
fig. 04 pictures, but you would normally use the colour in the pattern). Crochet a
sc on the inside of the leg (where the legs meet) so that the point of the shoe
faces forwards (fig 03). Now proceed with the first leg and crochet 18 sc
(fig. 04), move back to the other leg and crochet 18 sc. At the end of the rnd
there will be 36 sc (fig. 05).

Place a stitch marker. Once you have joined the legs of the doll the stitch
marker will be at the start of the buttocks.

fig. 01 Buttocks
After you have joined the legs, the start of the round is where you begin the
buttocks. Crochet in spiral using soft apricot.

Rnd 1: 9x [3 sc, inc] (= 45 st)

Rnd 2: 9x [4 sc, inc] (= 54 st)
Rnd 3: 6x [8 sc, inc] (= 60 st)

Cut yarn and fasten off (fig. 01).

fig. 02

Skirt
Work 36 ch + 1 t-ch in pink.
Row 1: 9x (3 sc, inc) close the round with a sl st (= 45 st).

Now crochet in a continuous spiral. (fig. 02).

fig. 03 Rnd 1: 9x (4 sc, inc) (= 54 st).

Rnd 2: 6x (8 sc, inc) (= 60 st).

Cut off yarn and finish off and close the small gap of rnd 1. Now put the skirt
onto the legs and crochet them together (fig. 03):

Rnd 3: 4x (14 sc, inc) (= 64 st)

Rnd 4-11: 64 sc, work sc to centre back in the last rnd (fig. 04).

Place a stitch marker.

Rnd 12: 4x (4 sc, dec), 14 sc, 4x (dec, 4 sc), dec (= 55 st).

Rnd 13: 4x (3 sc, dec), 13 sc, 4x (dec, 3 sc), dec (= 46 st).
Rnd 14: sc to the centre back

fig. 04
Centre back (fig. 04): If the pattern says
to crochet to centre back (for example
at the hips or bust), then this means
that you crochet till you are really at the
centre back of your work. Centre back
is a set point. It ensures that the doll is
symmetrical. In this way you can correct
small errors. Using your own judgement
crochet to that point and imagine that a
vertical line is running through the doll.
If necessary, move your stitch marker.

sewing twice over 2 stitches. Embroider the mouth between rnds 12 and 13
sewing over 2 stitches. Knot all loose ends at the back of your work and fill

fig. 01 Glasses
We bend the glasses from aluminum wire.

Take a pencil or a thick crochet hook. We leave about 8 cm of wire and then
wrap the wire once around the pencil (fig. 01). Then shape the nose bridge
and wrap the wire around the pencil once more (fig. 02).

Bend the beginning and end of the wire back to form the arms and
cut the wire to the appropriate length (fig. 03).
fig. 02
Finally we put the glasses on the doll.
