Interim Assessment 1

2nd Term A.Y. 2022-2023

Course Title: The Contemporary World (TCW)

Rationale:
It was established during previous class discussions that the Philippines is,
unfortunately, a peripheral state in the globalized world. For this interim assessment, the
students are tasked to prove, possibly even disprove, the aforementioned statement
through a digital portfolio containing photos depicting how the Philippines looks in a
globalized world with their commentary regarding each photo. They are encouraged to
substantiate the previous discussions on globalization with their own insights by way of
photojournalism. After all, our community can be a testament to ideas relayed during
classes; the goal then is to highlight occurrences in the community that will reveal how
globalized and how much of a peripheral state the Philippines has become. It is vital then
that aside from being able to share their insights, opinions and possibly even criticisms
on the subject matter, the students will be able to tell a story through their digital portfolio.

General guidelines:
1. This is a group activity.
2. There needs to be AT LEAST five (5) photos PERSONALLY TAKEN by the group
in the digital portfolio. The group is not permitted to grab photos from the internet
and submit these as their own.
3. Create the digital portfolio by compiling the photos using PDF.
4. The title of the PDF should follow the template: GROUP NUMBER_INTERIM 1
5. Upload the digital portfolio in the Assignment Bin on or before the deadline
assigned to your section:

TM211A January 12 (Thurs), 11:59 PM
TM211B January 12 (Thurs) ), 11:59 PM
TM211C January 13 (Fri) ), 11:59 PM

6. Only one representative from the group should upload the digital portfolio. The rest
can simply click ‘turn in’.
7. Failure to follow any of the guidelines (general, photo and commentary) will warrant
a deduction in the score. Please be guided by the rubric for this assessment.

Photo guidelines:
1. Aside from the commentary, each photo should have a one-liner caption or a title
underneath it.
