Participants: Youth representatives from 24 barangays, Magdalena Association of Local

Young Artist (MALAYA), MADAC

Objectives:
• To raise awareness about illegal drugs thru music & arts;
• To use the art of music in preventing youth drug problems.

Highlights:
• Mr. Michael Miatari, Executive Assistant of the Office of the Executive Director of
the Dangerous Drugs Board (DDB), graced the event with an opening message.

• An acclaimed singing painter, Maestro Tom Alvarado was one of the resource
speakers of the activity.

• The Musika Kontra Drogra Musika is an advocacy to prevent the use of illegal
drugs by teaching youth to play different musical instrument, singing, dancing
and painting. The theme of this advocacy is “ Music & Arts Festival” that aims to
promote music as way of enhancing quality of life and support recovery. Media,
art and music will be utilized to mirror myriad of perspectives on drug abuse,
healing and recovery.

• Musika Kontra Droga is a 1-day music & arts festivalthat will showcase the
musicians, arttist and their crafts through singing, dancing and painting while
conveying advocacy message to an audience. The activity also hopes to engage
the use of social media platforms to intensify preventive advocacy against drug
abuse.
• Aside from music & arts lesson, the activity also featured various activities,
including lectures on the Drug Abuse Resistance and Education program by PNP
& DILG and Role of Youth in Nation Building by Biñan City Youth & Sports
Development Office.
