HOSPITALITY & HOTEL INTRODUCTION ASAP

Hospitality, in its essence, is the act of welcoming and caring for guests.
Range of services and experiences designed to provide comfort,
convenience, and enjoyment for travelers and visitors.
• Providing a home away from home
• Creating positive experiences
• Anticipating and exceeding guest needs
• Building relationships

“An establishment providing accommodation, meals, and other services for


travelers and tourists.”
Or
“An establishment that offers overnight accommodation, meals and other
services.”

NORMS: In India HRACC(Hotels and Restaurants Accreditation Committee)


falling under the Ministry of Tourism ranks the hotels based on certain
parameters.

HOTEL RATINGS ASAP

Hotels are given a ratings :-


• One Star
• Two Star
• Three Star
• Four star
• Five Star with or without alcohol,
• Five Star Deluxe
• Heritage (Basic)
• Heritage(Classic)
• Heritage (Grand)
• Legacy Vintage (Basic),
• Legacy Vintage (Classic)
• Legacy Vintage (Grand).
HOTEL RATING PARAMETERS ASAP

The scores to the hotel are rated on 14 parameters, including cleanliness, quality of
staff and rooms, safety and security, and facilities for the physically challenged.

The basic parameters on which the officials grant the star ratings are:-
1. Number of rooms
2. Size of bathrooms
3. Air-conditioning details for guest rooms
4. Public areas & details of public areas like lobby/lounge
5. Details of restaurants
6. Details of bar
7. Details of shopping
8. Details of banquet/conference halls,
9. Business center
10. Health club
11. Swimming pool
12. Parking facilities (no. of vehicles)
13. Facilities for the differently abled guests,
14. Details of Fire Fighting Measures/ Hydrants,
15. Security-related features (CCTV, X-ray etc.
HOTEL CLASSIFICATION ASAP

The operational hotels are broadly classified


into two categories.
• Star Category Hotels: - 5 Star Deluxe, 5 Star, 4
Star, 3 Star, 2 Star & 1 Star
• Heritage Category Hotels: - Heritage Grand,
Heritage Classic & Heritage Basic
The ministry has a separate classification
scheme for heritage hotels .
1 STAR HOTEL ASAP

1-star Hotels are way better than non-star hotels as they still need a few criteria to fulfil to
ensure guest satisfaction. 1-star hotel rating usually underscores name brand and
independent establishments that offer consistent quality amenities.
These hotels serve the purpose of having a simple accommodation and also it will be
economical for the guests.

• All rooms must have shower or bathtub.


• Daily room cleaning
• Colour television with remote control.
• Table and a char.
• Soup or a body wash.
• Reception service.
• Fax service at reception.
• Telephone for Guest.
• Extended Breakfast
