At the end of the lesson, students are expected to:
1. identify the parts of flowering plants and their functions;
2. value the importance of each part of a flower by recognizing its role in the
reproductive process;
3. illustrate the parts and functions of a flowering plant.

C. Presentation Today, we’ll discuss
of the Lesson something both beautiful
and essential to our planet
and lives; Flowering plants:
Sunflower, Gumamela, rose,
and sampaguita.
Flowering plants are vital to
our planet. They don’t just
add beauty to our
surroundings but also play
crucial roles, such as:
Producing oxygen,
Providing food, and
Supporting life on Earth.
Flowers are also part of
many important occasions
and celebrations. As you
can see on the screen, they
are used in weddings,
Valentine’s Day, and
cultural festivals. One great
example is the Panagbenga
Festival in Baguio City,
which highlights the
beauty, growth, and
resilience of flowers. This
festival celebrates Baguio’s
identity as the ‘City of
Pines.’
During the pandemic, many
of your parents, titos, or
titas became “plantitos”
and “plantitas,” taking care
of plants not only to relieve Ma’am, it’s because of
stress but also as a source reproduction
of income.
But here’s a question:
Have you ever wondered
how flowering plants grow
and multiply?
Yes, that’s right! Flowering
plants can reproduce.
In today’s lesson, we will
explore how the parts of
flowering plants work
together to ensure their
growth and survival. This
process not only helps
flowers multiply but also
contributes to maintaining
balance in our ecosystem.
Our topic for today is:
The Parts of Flowering
Plants and Their Functions.
D. Discussion Today, we’ll explore the
(20 minutes) fascinating world of
flowering plants.
Did you know that almost
90% of all plants on Earth
are flowering plants?
They are also called
angiosperms and include
trees, shrubs, herbs, and
grasses.
Flowering plants produce
flowers as part of their
reproductive process,
making them an essential
group in the plant kingdom.
Part of Flowering Plants
and Their Functions
A flower is one of the most
beautiful parts of a plant.
While flowering plants can
vary in appearance, they all
have the same basic parts
Look at this picture on the
screen. A flower has four
major parts. These are
pistil, stamen, petals, and
sepals.
Do you know, class, that
flowering plants have two
reproductive organs? I will
discuss first the two
reproductive parts of a
flowering plant.
Class, the stamen is the
male reproductive part of
flowering plants they have
two main parts.
Anthers are like the head
and orange/yellow
structures often seen in the
center of a flower. Its
function is to produce and
contain pollen grains (male
sex cells)
Filaments are like the body
structure of the stamen
which hold the anthers. Its
function is to support the
anther.
Pistil is the female
reproductive of flowering
plants and it contains three
main parts
Stigma is the sticky or
feathery surface on which
pollen grains land and
grow. Its function is to
receive and capture pollen
grains.
Style is the slender stalk or
tube of the pistil that the
stigma sits on the top of it.
Its primary function is to
connect the stigma to the
ovary.
Ovary is the enlarge basal
portion of the pistil. It
produces and contains the
ovules. Which develop into
seeds upon fertilization.

Class before we proceed
from the third major parts
of flowering plants, do you
have any questions in
reproductive parts of a
flower.
The other parts of the
flowering plants class which
play an important role or
function in flowering plants
is petals.
Bright and colorful petals
serve an essential role in
reproduction. They attract
pollinators such as bees,
butterflies, and birds. These
animals visit flowers to
collect nectar, which serves
as their food. While doing
this, they help transfer
pollen from the male part
(stamen) to the female part
(stigma) of the flower.
This process, called
pollination, is essential for
fertilization in flowering
plants. Fertilization leads to
the production of seeds and
fruits, ensuring that new
plants can grow. Without
attractive petals, flowers
might not effectively attract
pollinators, making
reproduction more difficult.
All the petals of a flower
together are called the
corolla.

Filament
The function of this major
part of a flowering plants is
to attract some pollinators Ovary
such as bees, birds and
butterflies.
Under the pistil, its primary Sepals
function is to connect the
stigma to the ovary.
Under the stamen, its
function is to support the
anther.
Under the pistil, its function
is to produce and contains
the ovules.
This major parts of a
flowering plants its function
is to protect the flower in
bud stage.
(The teacher will emphasize
the parts of a flowering
plant using a diagram,
explaining how each part
plays an essential role and
works together
harmoniously. The teacher
will also connect this
concept to the
responsibility of every
individual to care for and
protect nature.)
Class, just as each major
part of a flower—sepals,
petals, stamen, and pistil—
works together
harmoniously to ensure
reproduction and the
survival of its species, we
too have a role to play in
maintaining the balance of
God’s creation. Flowers
depend on pollinators like
bees and butterflies, and in
the same way, nature
depends on us to care for
and protect it.
When we protect the
environment, plant trees,
and preserve biodiversity,
we are fulfilling our
responsibility as stewards
of the world that God has
entrusted to us. Let this
lesson remind us of the
beauty, interconnectedness,
and purpose of all living
things, and inspire us to
work together to ensure
that future generations
can also appreciate the
wonders of creation.
Okay class before we
proceed to your activity do
you have any questions in
parts of a flowering plants
and its function?

Instructions:
Group Setup:
All Grade 5 students will
participate as one team.
Assign Roles:
Choose one member to
start by receiving the
message at the back of the
line, and another member
to be the designated writer
who will write the answer
on the blackboard.
How to Play:
I will display a description
or function of a part of a
flowering plant on the
monitor. Each description
will have a 30-second timer.
The first member of the
team at the back will only
answer the question and
he/she pass the message
forward.
The message will be passed
down the line to the writer
at the front, who will write
the correct spelling of the
answer on the blackboard.
Important Reminder:
The answer must be spelled
correctly to count! If the
spelling is wrong, the
answer will be considered
incorrect.
F. Generalizatio Before we go to our

ACADEMIC COORDINATOR/PRINCIPAL’s REMARKS
Ma’am, dito ko nalang ilalagay.
1. Assign one student as the prayer leader.
2. Do not say “class” all the time, instead, you can use “everyone”
3. Assign specific learners to answer questions
4. In the application, try to group the class into two. If you only group them into
one, it will be too many, and they will become noisy
5. Avoid saying, “Class, our topic for today is about ---” you can say “Today, we will
discuss the fascinating parts of flowering plants and their functions
6. In the generalization, avoid saying “Before we go to our last task, let’s have a
recap”
7. Do not make the explanation very long: make it short and simple
8. Please put a space after every number
