Morning message: o Introduce new centers 9:15-10:15 Learning Centers Dramatic Play: Cocoon/Butterfly Wings Art: Butterfly footprint/handprints- students will create butterfly print using their feet and hands to make the body and wings of a butterfly. Sand and Water: Butterfly Nets with floating and sinking butterflies ad nets Blocks: Butterfly floor puzzle Math/Maipulatives: The Very Hungry Caterpillar Board Game- like chutes and ladders Library: Books! Books! Books! About butterflies and caterpillars Discovery/Science: Butterfly blocks- students will get to examine preserved butterflies Computers: Kid Pic Art: draw pictures of caterpillars and butterflies using paint on computer Cooking: Stamps and Butterfly sewing Writing Center: Butterfly Stencils and caterpillar cut outs- students will make collages or draw picture and write story about it 10:15-10:25 Special Activity: North vs. South Butterfly game- students will practice gross motor skills such as jumping, skipping, etc. as they migrate north and south (like red light, green light) 10:25-10:35Small Groups: Now that I am a butterfly, I will Students will finish openended sentence and draw picture to accompany it. They will be creating their own page of a class book. 10:35-11:00 Outside/Large Motor: TR: Colorful Ribbons- students will get the opportunity to practice their large motor skills using colorful ribbons. 11:00-11:15 Story Time Caterpillar Finger Play Story: The Very Hungry Caterpillar- retell story using caterpillar puppet

and pictures of foods eaten in book 11:15 Wash Hands 11:15-11:45 Lunch/Dismissal Transitions Transition from outside to story time: Caterpillar Finger Play Transition from story time to lunch: Students will give caterpillar their food item and line up to wash hands. 10:15-10:25 Special Activity: Caterpillar finger play: Roly Poly Caterpillar 10:25-10:35 Small Groups: Bead Caterpillars- students will strong beads onto pipe cleaners (fine motor skills) and will save them for Monday when we will make the caterpillars they just made into butterflies! 10:35-11:00 Outside/Large Motor: F: Colorful Ribbon Relays- students will get the opportunity to practice their large motor skills using colorful ribbons and will have relays practicing different gross motor skills 11:00-11:15 Story Time Share book made in small group the day before Story: Waiting for Wings-retell with puppet Im a little caterpillar waiting for wings, Ill spin my cocoon and be in here for weeks, when I think Im ready I will wiggle, and POOF out Ill come with beautiful wings! 11:15 Wash Hands 11:15-11:45 Lunch/Dismissal Transitions Transition from story time to lunch: Im a little Caterpillar waiting for wings REPEAT FOR AFTERNOON CLASS.
