Annual Saeed National Competition (ASNC) 2012 The Champ

SPEECH COMPETITION

ELIGIBILITY 1. Participants must be a student of a Senior High School proven by the student card. 2. Each school participating can only send its representative at most five students. GENERAL RULES 1. Participants are Senior High School Student. 2. Participants are obligatory to choose the themes which are provided by committee. The themes are: a. b. c. d. e. 3. Speech contest is held within 2 rounds consisting qualification and grand final rounds. The description about both of rounds is: A. Qualification Round a. Participants must prepare their original five-minute speech. Participants are allowed to cite from any reference, it must be identified during the speech presentation. b. Participants must collect the original script of the speech (plus 3 copies) to the Committee on the technical meeting. c. Participants who are in 5 highest scores will proceed to grand final round. B. Grand Final Round a. The top five finalists will give a two to five-minute impromptu speeches. b. The finalists can get their script theme and performance turn from a drawing process after the five-finalist announcement. Participants/representatives absence means that the performance turn is on committees authority. c. The finalist will be given 30 minutes preparation before the final is held in a decided room.

d. After delivering the speech, each finalist takes a question provided by the committe related to the speech content and the finalist has to give an answer toward the questions (not more than 1 minute).

TIMING OF THE SPEECH A. Qualification Round a. Speeches will be five minutes. If the speech is less than three minutes, a participant will be disqualified from the contest. b. The participants shall proceed immediately to the speaking position after being called by MC. c. Timer will provide warning signals for the participants. d. A green signal will be displayed at first minute. It signifies the timing has been begun. The participants are allowed to start their speeches. e. A yellow signal will be displayed at two-minute remains f. A red signal will be displayed, if the time is over. g. The sightless contestant may request and must be granted a form of warning signal by his or her own choice on technical meeting. h. Performance over the decided time makes its score decreased 20 points per minute. B. Grand Final Round a. b. a. b. c. d. e. f. g. Speeches will be two to five minutes. The participants will have the decreasing point for 20 , if their impromptu speech is less than 2 minutes. Timer shall provide warning signals to the contestants, which shall be clearly visible to the speakers. A green signal will be displayed at first minute. A yellow signal will be displayed at second minute. A red signal will be displayed at the end of minutes. No signal shall be given for the overtime period. Any sightless contestant may request and must be granted a form of warning signal of his or her own choosing. Performance over the decided time make its score decreased 20 points per minute The 1st and 2nd winner will be announced on May 6th, 2012 at the closing ceremony.

CALLING MECHANISM A. Qualification Round a. b. The Committee will give each participant the serial number. The Committee will call upon each participant to come to the podium to deliver the speech, starting from participant number 1. If the participant, being called by Mc has not come yet, they will be put in the last number of all participants.

B. Final Round a. b. c. The Committee will give each finalist the finalist number. After preparing the impromptu speech, every finalist should leave the room and gather in the venue. The Committee will call upon Finalist to deliver his/her speech
