UNIVERSITY WORD MASTER CONTEST

Rationale:
The ZPPSU Word Master Contest is an exciting event aimed at promoting vocabulary
enrichment and spelling proficiency among university students. This contest provides participants
with an opportunity to showcase their linguistic skills in a competitive yet intellectually stimulating
environment.

Guidelines:
a. Each program must have one (1) participant.
b. The contestant must be enrolled in ZPPSU during the academic year 2023-2024.
c. Submit the list of participants to Dr. Kier P. Dela Calzada (09672641822), Facebook account:

d. There will be three levels for this contest namely the easy, average, and difficult level.
Easy Level: 30 words
Average Level: 20 words
Difficult Level: 10 words.

e. The contestants shall have a limited time to answer for each round.
Easy Round: 10 seconds
Average Round: 15 seconds
Difficult Round: 25 seconds.

f. Contestants must write the word after the “go” signal. A contestant who started writing without
the "go" signal will be disqualified to answer for that specific turn.
g. Erasures are strictly NOT allowed. An answer with erasure will automatically be considered
WRONG.
h. For the first level in the easy round, only the TOP 20 students will move to the average level,
then only TOP 10 will move to the difficult level.
i. The quiz master will pronounce the word and meaning to be spelled twice.
j. Any form of cheating or misconduct will lead to immediate disqualification from the competition.
k. For every correct word, the contestant/s will be given corresponding points. All the scores will
be counted to determine the winner.
Easy Round: 1 point
Average Round: 3 points
Difficult Round: 5 points

l. A contestant who had the highest point at the end of the difficult round will be determined
CHAMPION. In case there is a tie, the contestants with the same score will be given another word
to spell.
m. The contest will be held on March 21, 2024 from 1:00-5:00 PM at the ZPPSU-ITE Quadrangle.
n. The contestant must be at the venue 1 hour before the contest for the final briefing and blocking.
o. Prizes and certificates will be awarded to the winners.

These guidelines are designed to ensure fairness, transparency, and professionalism in


conducting the ZPPSU Word Master Contest. We encourage all eligible students to participate
and showcase their linguistic prowess on this prestigious platform.
