BACTERIAL CELL STRUCTURE
Bacteria are microscopic single celled organisms that in disease environment.
The cell structure is simpler than that of other organisms is there is no nucleus or membrane bound organelles.
CELL WALL
Tough and rigid structure that
surrounds the bacteria like a
shell.
1. Accounts for the shape of
the cell.
2. Provides protection.
3. Rigidity.
CYTOPLASMIC MEMBRANE
Semipermeable thick elastic
layer which lies beneath cell
wall from cell cytoplasm.
1. Acts as osmotic barrier.
2. Contains enzyme
necessary for cell wall
synthesis.
NUCLEUS: Bacterial
nucleus has no membrane
or nucleolus.
CYTOPLASM
Bacterial colloidal system containing a variety of organic and
inorganic solution.
1. RIBOSOME: Center of protein synthesis.
2. INTRACYTOPLASMIC INCLUSION: Source of stored
energy.
3. MESOSOMES: Vesicular, structures formed as
invagination of plasma membrane into cytoplasm.
