PNEUMATIC PUNCHER

ABSTRACT
Pneumatic is the branch of engineering that deals with study of air/gas
• characteristic and also their use in engineering applianoces either in atmospheric or above
• atmospheric pressure. Now a day number of applicatins increase in pneumatic system due
• to high carrying capacity, maintenance cost and most important not dangerous. Pneumatic
• systems are power systems using compressed air as working medium for the power
• transmission. Their principles of operation is similar to that hydraulic power systems. An air
• compressor converts the mechanical energy of the prime mover into, mainly pressure
• energy of the compressed air. This is the transformation facilities the transmission storage
• and control of energy. After compression, the compressed air should be prepared for the
• desired work. A pneumatic system is system that uses compressed air to transmit and
• control the energy. Pneumatic systems are used in controlling train doors, automatic
• production lines, mechanical clamps etc.
• KEYWORDS: Pneumatic cylinder, Control valve, Pipe connector and Push, Punch and Die,
• Air hoes.
PNEUMATIC PUNCHING MACHINE

• Introduction
• Pneumatic systems operate on a supply of compressed air which
must be made available in sufficient quantity and at a pressure to
suit the capacity of the system. When the pneumatic system is being
adopted for the first time, however it wills indeed the necessary to
deal with the question of compressed air supply.
•
• The key part of any facility for supply of compressed air is by means
using reciprocating compressor. A compressor is a machine that
takes in air, gas at a certain pressure and delivered the air at a high
pressure.
•
WORKING PRINCIPLE

•

•Our project works on the following three basic principles.

•Air can flow.
•Air can be compressed.
•Difference in air pressure can cause movement.
•
•The main objectives of our project is to punch object with the help of air. Initially we
press the lever manually and the force is transmitted from the lever to the cylinder
(Syringe-1) through a link. The air in the cylinder (Syringe-1) gets compressed and exerts
force through the pipe to the next cylinder (Syringe-2) where the punching tool is
connected and hence the object is punched due to air pressure.
•
•Thus the project is easy to operate due to its simple mechanism.
•
APPLICATIONS

• 1 Pressing Operation in all industries

• 2 Paper punching industries
• 3 Leather washer operation in all industries.
• 4 Sheet Metal Punching.

PROJECT LAYOUT
ADVANTAGES

• 1 It reduces the manual work
• 2 It reduces the production time
• 3 Uniform application of the load gives perfect removing of the
bearing.
• 4 Damages to the bearing due to the hammering is
prevented
• 5 It occupies less floor space
• 6 Less skilled operator is sufficient

LIMITATIONS

• 1 Initial cost is high

• 2 Cylinder stroke length is constant
• 3 Specific Size punching operation only.
• 4 Can work only on thin papers / sheets.

Advantages of pneumatics

• Simplicity of Design And Control

• Machines are easily designed using standard
cylinders & other components. Machines
operate by simple ON - OFF type control.
The Three Principles

•
• There are three scientific principles involved in each type of fluid systems. These
include the following:
•
• 1) Fluids can be compressed
•
• 2) Fluids can flow
•
• 3) Pressure differences can cause movement
•
• “Fluids can flow” relates to my subject because for pneumatic systems to work, it
needs the compressed air to flow through something in order to do a job right.
•
