Grooming – Introduction {A}

What is Grooming?
 It is the process of making yourself look neat and
attractive.
 The things which you do to make yourself and your
appearance tidy and pleasant.

Types of Grooming:
 Physical
 Meta Physical

 Grooming is important because it makes a person feel good
about oneself, he or she feels confident as a result perform
better and deliver the best.
 It is also known that a well groomed is always remembered
even after meeting him or her only once.
 If you look good , you feel good and if you feel good you
keep your surroundings Happy.
Skin Care
Skin consists of Three
Layers:
o Epidermis:- The outer
layer having no blood vessels
and never ending.
o Dermis:- The layer below
Epidermis with elastic fiber.
o Hypodermis:- The layer
below the Dermis with fatty
connective tissue, with high
H2O content.
Types Of Skin

There are 4 different Types of Skin:-

 Normal Skin
 Dry Skin
 Oily Skin
 Combination Skin
Normal Skin
 Normal skin has an even
tone , soft – smooth
texture, non-visible pores
or blemishes.
 This type of skin has a
clear, fine texture , supple
and smooth surface which
is neither greasy or dry.
Dry Skin
 Dry skin has a low – level of
sebum and can be prone to
sensitivity.
 It usually feel “Tight” and
uncomfortable after washing
unless some types of moisturizer
is applied to it.
 Chopping & Cracking are sign of
extremely dry dehydrated skin.
Oily Skin
 Oily skin is shiny, thick and dull
colored.
 Oily skin invites blackheads and
acne issues.
 In this type of skin the oil
producing glands are over active
and produces more oil than
needed.
Combination Skin
 A combination skin is a thin nor
fine – texture skin.
 It reacts quickly to both heat and
cold
 It is commonly dry, delicate and
prone to allergic reaction.
My Skin Type:

I Have Oily Skin

 Oily skin use hot water for face wash because it absorbs face oil better
than Luke warm water.
 Use non alcohol based astringent.
 Use oil based products as then dissolve sebum effectively.\
 Avoid eating fatty foods which contains high amount of oil.
 Also use an oil free primer to control shine
 Cleanse your face atleast twice a day using oil free cleanser or Highly
Recommended: Cetaphil oil free face wash.

Hair care
 Hair is a filamentous biomaterial, that grows form follicles found in
dermis.
 Most common interest in hair is focused on hair growth, hair types and
hair are.

Dry Hair
 Dry hair don’t have
enough moisture and oil
maintain its normal
texture.
 Dry hair are basically
very rough textured.
 Very difficult to comb.
Oily Hair
 Oily hair are veryb
greasy which accumulate
oil on your hair and
scalp.

 Oily hair basically looks


very sticky.
Combination Hair
 Combination hair are
neither greasy nor dry.

 It looks like a normal


hair overly porous.

 Difficult to comb in wet


hair and dryhair.

Western Attire
Dressing can be broadly classified into three types:

 Formal Dressing: It includes trouser, shirt, coat, shoes & tie


for men and skirt/trouser for women.

 Informal Dressing: It includes a shirt, trouser/skirt & a tie.

 Casual Dressing: It include anything which can be worn at


any casual occasion.
Western Formals for Women

 Formals for women includes jacket,


shirt,& a skirt. For any interviews
trouser for women is not acceptable.

 Navy blue and black are the colours


which is accepted by all airlines of the
world. Do not wear indecent or neon
colours.

 Teri-cotton shirts are preferable. Not to


wear satin, silk or leather fabric.
HAIRSTYLE:-
 Short hair can be left open but
the length should reach upto the
nape of neck.
 Long hair must be tied up
neatly.

SCARF:-
 A well worn scarf gives a
professional look.
 A scarf must suit the entire attire.
SHOES:-
 Closed belly sized shoes with
leather sole must be worn on
western formal.
 The heel should be 2” to 4”.
 The shoes should not have any
strap of buckles.

HANDBAG:-
 It should be a formal handbag.
 Mostly black is a good option.
 Do not stuff to many things into the bag
as it would bulge out.
ACESSORIES:-
 The jewellery should not be
flashy but attractive.
 No religious threads should be
worn.
 Studs, necklace and a watch are
preferrable.

STOCKINGS:-
 Wearing stockings is a must
with a skirt.
 The colour can be sheer black
or honey shade.
 Stockings must be pantyhose
style.
Western formal for Men’s

 Formals for men include


Trousers, Shirt, a Jacket,
Belt and Tie.
 Other accessories
include socks, shoes and
formal watch.
 The shirt must be of soft
colour so that it suits the
jacket completely.
TROUSER:-
• The trouser should be pleated with a
crease in front.
• The trouser should match the jacket.
SHIRT:-
• The material should be of good quality.
• Teri-cotton is preferable for interviews.
• The shirt should have a right fit,
otherwise they would brunch up.
JACKET:-
• The jacket must be 1 or 2 buttons in the
centre.
• Jacket and trouser should be of same
colour and material.
TIE:-
• The tie worn should end at the top of
the belt buckle.
• Avoid striped tie as it gives a schoolboy
look.
• A Windsar knot is a proper one.
SHOES:-
• Shoes should be of same material
as of belt.
• Shoes should be black in colour.
• They should be well polished.

SOCKS:-
• The colour of the socks must
match the colour of the trouser.
• The socks should not be ankle
length.

 Cosmetics are products used to enhance or alter
the appearance of the face or fragrance and texture of the body.

 It doesn’t hide our flaws, it makes us remember the aren’t


flaws.

 Makeup is essential for cabin crew.

 Not only you look great outside but you feel confident &
wonderful from inside.

FOUNDATION:-
• It is very important that foundation should match your skin tone
or a shade darker.

CONCEALER:-
• Concealer should always two shade lighter.
• It is used to conceal all pores, scars, acne and dark circles.

COMPACT POWDER:-
• Compact powder should be matching to the foundation and the
skin tone make sure you choose a right tone.

BRUSHES:-
• Brushes are very important for any kind of make-up.
• You must have brushes for cheeks, lip, eye area and sponge for
blending purposes.

• For dusky tone, use a darker shade of blusher.
• Blusher highlights your cheeks in a perfect
manner.
PERSONAL HYGIENE & CARE
 Personal hygiene can be defined
as an act of
maintaining cleanliness and
grooming of the external body.
 Maintaining good personal
hygiene consists of bathing,
washing your hands, brushing teeth
and sporting clean clothing.
 When it comes to grooming; be
clean & clear from top to bottom,
be it the nails or the perfume.
 We should be strict towards the
products as it suits our skin & hair
to enhance and improve our body.
DENTAL CARE

• A manicure is a cosmetic beauty
treatment for the fingernails and hands
performed at home or in a nail salon.

• A manicure consists of filing and shaping


the free edge, pushing and clipping (with a
cuticle pusher and cuticle nippers) any
nonliving tissue (but limited to
the cuticle and hangnails), treatments with
various liquids, massage of the hand, and
the application of fingernail polish.

• Cabin crew should take immense care of


their hands nails as they are completely
exposed to the customers.
Perfumes & Fragrances
 Scents emit beauty and allure.
 Men and women use different
types of perfumes as per their
liking.
 Perfumes are important part
of our attire we wear
 The fragrance should neither
be too strong or too weak.
Exercise

 One needs to do serious exercising for a


healthy body. Some exercise which do a
whole body workout can be as follows:

 WALKING: 20 minutes a day to lose


weight.

 CYCLING: Do cycling every evening.

 YOGA : This helps to reduce fat.

 STRECTHING: To relax muscles.


Do’s & Don’ts for Interview
 Always be punctual, always arrives at venue before time.
Don’t be late.

 Wear formals, with comfortable fiting, don’t go for fancy or eye irritating clothes.

 Don’t expect others to fill you in during or after the interviews.

 Come prepare with stationary, Don’t ask it for interviewer.

 Silence your electronics; E.g.:- Cell phone, Pager etc.

 Maintain personal hygiene like trimmed nails, hair, etc.

 Smell good, apologize for mistakes, Don’t argue.

 KEEP SMILING, don’t let your nervousness show on your face.

 Always say Thank You before leaving.

and good manners, should be a
part of your personality.
• Social graces include our
practices in our daily life.

ETIQUETTE:
 Etiquette is a code of behaviour that
delineates expectations for social
behaviour according to contemporary
conventional norms within a society,
society class, or group.

MANNERS:
 Manners are something used every day to make
a good impression on others and to feel good
about oneself.
 No matter where you are - at home, work, or
with friends - practicing good manners is
important.
 Being polite and courteous means considering
how others are feeling.
 If you practice good manners, you are showing
those around you that you are considerate of
their feelings and respectful.
Conclusion
In few days of grooming class, I understood how
to groom well. I once again thanks my grooming
teacher, our guidance, our support Mrs. NAZIA
KHAN, for teaching us grooming, also I have learned
how to develop personality, communication skill and
well mannered and to respect time, and improve skin,
hair, attire, makeup and accessories.
