Let’s reflect the lesson
HOW TO MEASURE HEIGHT
How high
Lesson 1 a boy?

Without using measurement apparatus, students guessing height of a boy: “100 cm, 185 cm,
165 cm, and 175 cm”. Teacher mentioned: we need an apparatus to measure height a boy.
HOW TO MEASURE HEIGHT
• Lesson 2

Students learnt that non-

standard measurement
apparatus results in
different height of a boy.
However with
standardized
measurement apparatus
results in the same
height of a boy the same
whoever done it.
HOW TO MEASURE WEIGHT
• Lesson 1
Students interested in
learning how to use
Ohous balance.
However, they got
results of significant
different weight of a
battery among groups
although teacher
explained twice how to
use Ohous balance.
Why? Teacher didin’t
care of moving Ohous
balance. Students didn’t
see clearly how to place
poise on arms of
Ohause balance when
teacher demonstrated
how to use Ohous
balance.
HOW TO MEASURE WEIGHT
• Lesson 2
Students were very
eager in learning how to
use Ohous balance.
Now, the results of
measurement of a
battery was not so
different among groups.
Why? Students were
invited to come closer
to observe
demonstration how to
use Ohous balance to
weigh a battery. As a
result students can
place poise on the right
tract on the arms of the
balance.
HOW TO USE THERMOMETER
• Lesson 1
Students engaged
in learning how to
use thermometer
to measure
temperature.
However, the result
of temperature
measurement of
warm water and ice
was not so different
among groups. the
way in using
thermometer was
not correct yet.
Bottom part of
thermometer was
not covered by ice.
HOW TO USE THERMOMETER
• Lesson 2

Experiment using thermometer was modified in lesson 2, students

measure decreasing temperature of warm water in every 2
minutes. The data was plotted temperature versus time in minute.
There were 2 different form of graph, increasing temperature with
increasing time. On the other hand, another group opposite,
temperature decreased with time. Unfortunately, teacher didn’t
realized the differences among groups.
REFLECTION AND REDESIGNING THE LESSON

The principal and teachers

commented on using Ohouse
balance during reflection
session since students were
not enough confident in using
Ohous balance. Principal
demontrated using Ohous
balance under supervision of
teacher educator. Ms. Desi
and her colleagues tried out
how to use Ohous balance to
make 2nd lesson better.
REFLECTION OF SECOND LESSON

Now, Ms. Desi looks happy during second reflection

since her students engage in learning about using
measurement apparatus. The principal enthusiasm
to appreciate Ms. Desi learning from first lesson and
made improvement in 2nd lesson. Observers paid
attention to teacher educator’s comment on the 2nd
lesson. Involvement of principal in observing the
lesson has motivated teachers to learn from
student for improvement.
