QUICK RISK PREDICTION

(QRP)
DEFINATION
The Quick Risk Prediction, QRP, is
a tool for identifying hazards
aiming incidents prevention in
the workplace, through the
control and/or elimination of
these hazards.
(QRP)
• The Quick Risk Prediction, QRP, is
applicable for non-routine activities,
change- overs, breakdowns, planned
maintenance, cleanings etc.
• By practicing QRP, employees
become automatic and mentally
ready to Stop, Think, Analyze and
Act during daily activities (jam
intervention, crossing…)
QRP Method
• Step 1: Stop
• Gather all the employees that will
conduct the activity.
• Define a team leader, who will be in
charge of coordinating the job and
fill in the QRP form.
• Register the following information:
QRP Method
–Production Line;
–Machine or Equipment;
–Date and Shift;
–Activity description;
–List of employees for the task;
–Inform if there is an
instruction or a procedure.
Step 2: Think
• Inspect the machine & equipment,
as well as consider the activity on
the shop floor and look for hazards,
identify where they are and plan a
way to mitigate them. Register your
findings and the counter measures
to prevent incidents.
Some examples of what to look
for:
• Bump;
• Poke;
• Hot & Cold surface;
• High pressure;
• Chemical exposure;
• Spill;
• Slip, trip, fall;
• Electrical shock;
• Ergonomics;
• Fire, explosion;
• Unexpected moving parts;
• Ventilation;
• Other identified hazards
• Note: After finishing the
hazard recognition and risk
assessment process it is
also a good opportunity to
check and upaste the
Safety Map if it is necessary
•  Step 3: Act
• The final step of the QRP process
is Act. It means that after
identifying the hazards, making
the risk assessment and
establishing the
countermeasures to prevent
incidents it is time to perform
the activity.
• In this stage the following is expected:
• • Use of 100% of the Personal Protective
Equipment for the activity;
• • Follow the countermeasures (e.g. apply LOTO;
warning signs; exhaustion systems, extra
illumination, etc.) and perform the task registered
in the QRP form);
• • After finishing the activity review the form and
document new findings;
• • Keep the learning records to improve safe
practices. Important: In case countermeasures
cannot be observed, the activity must not be
executed and the Team Leader and HSE
representative must be informed and/or consulted.
