OBJECTIVES OF THE STUDY

 Main objective is to prepare the Master

Plan for water supply system for
Budhanilkantha Municipality (for 20 years).
 Other related objectives are:
1. Identification of water sources and their
discharge capacity
2. Planning for components for water supply
scheme
3. Water supply distribution layout
4. Preliminary costing for the project

PURPOSE OF FIELD VISIT

 Water sources identification and measurement of

discharge capacity
 Sample collection of water for quality test
 GPS location of the sources and major project
components (elevation levels)
 Alignment fixation for transmission of water
from source
 Location of storage tanks, treatment plants etc.
 Planning for layout of distribution system
PLANNING & LAYOUT CRITERIAS

 Planning and layout of water supply system will be

based on following:
1. Defining the service areas (Zoning)
2. Forecasting the population served and water
requirement
3. Selection of water sources
4. Rehabilitation, improvement and expansion of
existing system
5. Determine treatment process based on raw water
quality
6. Propose the water supply system to be constructed
7. Estimate construction cost
8. Prepare overall implementation schedule
IMPLEMENTATION/INVESTMENT PLAN

 Stagewise construction to be carried out to avoid

heavy investment at one time
 Cost distribution at each stage of implementation
will be provided
 Time period required for each step of project
development such as detailed design, procedures
for loan procurement, tendering and construction
will be determined.
 Implementation schedule will be provided in the
plan.
