COMBINED STRESSES
(2001)

Aside from individual check for bending and axial loads. The members that is subjected to both axial and bending
shall also be checked using the following proportions:

A. For Bending and Axial Tension: Members subjected to combined bending and axial tension must satisfy the two
given equations.

  +

Where:

= actual axial stress = T/A
= actual bending stress, Mc/I
= allowable axial stress
= allowable bending stress
adjusted allowable bending stress

as load subjected to bending.
