 A photographic essay is a series of pictures that evokes an emotion,  convey, an
idea, or tells a story
 It expresses an artist’s personal ideas through narration or exposition in the same
way essay does, but it does so through photograph.
 A photo essay may also propose an argument, challenge our beliefs or encourage
us to reflect on our values, think critically and form opinions.
.
 The pictures in a photo essay are not put together randomly.  Each picture serves a
purpose as an integral part of a whole, the same way  each paragraph in an essay
serves as an essential component to form a  unified piece of prose.
 The photos you choose must not only be compositionally and artistically strong,
but also informative and educational
 It is important for the reader of a photo essay to understand the symbolizes latent
in each image. There is always more than surface, literal meaning.
